Thanks for the reply. I understand mine says “slightly thickened” or “small asd” and therefore the prognosis is different but I guess I’m approaching it from the perspective of these are bad things and what if the thickening gets worse (i understand the asd will remain the same). Also “slightly” is quite subjective so it would be good to know to what extent it’s thickened or also where I could maby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all I am 29 now, had afib since 27. I had an echocardiogram last year and there are some things in the report that worry me. The cardiologist never showed me the report but simply said my heart was structurally normal (other than being on afib meds of course). People on here seem to be really knowledgeable with heart stuff and I am having a hard time navigating all these terms on google. Heby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I believe it does. I got Afib in a very stressful period of my lifeby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
So what is the best overall diet for heart health then? I started a Mediterranean diet which is very high fat but seeing on this thread a few people adopting low fat diets? Is there any consensus aside from the general eat whole foods, avoid sugar get enough vegetables etcby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Has anyone here ever done a steroid cycle of testosterone? I am 28 and my testosterone is only 420 ng/dl and I lift weights 4 times a week and eat healthy, which supposedly boosts testosterone. Given my age and activity I would expect to be much higher. Would like to do a cycle of testosterone but worried about how it may affect Afib. Some studies say steroids are bad for the heart, they may notby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been taking my flec etc and last few weeks I have been fine. Was lying down randomly and then my heart started going out of rhythm. I could feel pulpitations in my chest but it didn’t feel like my whole heart was giving palpitations but just like a vein inside my chest area was beating out a weird rhythm and then I started feeling like I was gonna pass out and then it stopped. Well that really sucks then. I have done heavy bench press ever since I was 17 years old, and would regularly lift 250-300 pounds. So everything else is fine to do aside from bench and overhead press? Going to lose a lot of strength doing bench press at just my body weight. I guess life really is unfair. I had started to limit bench to 80% of my 1rm but man, as low as body weight it is thenby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
@carey that certainly makes sense. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Though I was diagnosed at 27. I don’t drink, never smoked (not even a puff), eat well and do resistance training 5 days a week. Not overweight etc. but still diagnosed at 27. Seems bad luck is a big factor too. But certainly best to do all one can to try mitigate the risk of it coming back. @kateshadow I agree. How couldby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well that sucks... I thought if the ablation was successful you would be cured forever. Prior to being on flec I did a 24 hour holter and that had my Afib at a bit over 200bpm. None of the break through dive had on flec have been that fast quivering type. My heart beat wasn’t fast at all just every few beats it would have a long pause and I would feel faint and dizzy and then a few faster beats tby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
@pompon I am on flecainide 200mg controlled release so I assume that’s the same thing. @rocket good idea. I finished my workout off with a relatively hard circuit and Afib came 15 mins later when I was showering. I think I will warm down now as you suggest. I have only had a few breakthroughs since being on flec so it’s hard to ascertain a pattern yet. I was just scared as flec had been worby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
So what do I do? How do I stop things becoming permanent this is all very depressing. Do I just continue on my flec, supplement accordingly and eat well and then when flec fails have an ablation? What did you do to manage thingsby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
@carey - do you think it would be beneficial if I try drop it to 100mg of flec a day so then I have more room to use it over time. Though if I’m getting breakthroughs I guess that means it’s stopping working already. Which sucks because some people are fine on it for many years. It was a cardiologist. I don’t think there are many electrophysiologists in my country (only 4-5m population), but in 3by Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi there Was diagnosed with Afib 6 months ago. 28 years old. On betablocker and 200mg of flec daily. Flec was working perfectly and no Afib unless I forgot a dose. A month ago had some Afib working out at the gym despite being on flec and had to stop. Yesterday I started doing cardio as per the cardiologists request. Was fine during but afterwards was in Afib for an hour - not constant but thby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi guys Thank you for your responses. Yes I live in New Zealand. We have a public health system which covers most things (including ablations) but there are waiting lists and I guess things are managed based on priority as well. Health insurance is not compulsory. If you do decide to take out health insurance (say to ensure you always have access to the best care and do not have to wait), theby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi again I made a thread a month or two back about being diagnosed with a fib and everyone was so knowledgeable and helpful. In short, I’m now 28 and have had a fib since mid 2018. I am on flecainide and betablocker. Otherwise very healthy. Not fat and don’t smoke or drink. I met with the cardiologist today and he said not to have an ablation yet and to remain on flec since I tolerateby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you so much for all your responses, much appreciated. In terms of the tests I have had, I have not had a stress test but I was lying down and had a heart ultrasound? Would that be able to give me the answers I would need re the enlarged artrioc vein thing or not sufficient? As I have already been prescribed with this flec and beta blocker I am a bit reluctant to come off it withoutby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks again guys for all your responses. Shame there isn't a multi quote button on here @wolfpack- that certainly sounds very grim. I have given it a cursory google search and what you are saying seems sound - that lifting does indeed stress the heart. A shame that its not really emphasised at all, I had no idea until today and I have been lifting for years. I did have some scan on myby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks again George. I am from Wellington but I will contact Auckland heart group and look into it. Thanks so muchby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for your reply George. By ‘trigger’ do you mean the general cause of his afib or it would trigger Afib episodes. Prior to taking my medication my episodes were usually caused by work stress and I would be in Afib just sitting in my desk at work for about 3-4 hours a day and it stop around 3pm most days. For now I will try ensure I don’t go above 80-85% of my 1 rep max for my workoutsby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for your response. I haven’t had any side effects from the flec. Yet I heard about people having a horrible time on it. I assume it’s possible for side effects to appear later? I am fine with having an ablation but New Zealand is a small country and there is no one on the list of approved ablationists. Is it better to travel somewhere for that and pay a lot of money? Hello everyone I am a 28 year old male and was diagnosed with Afib 4 months ago at 27. I will preface my post by saying I have never smoked, don’t drink alcohol and don’t even drink coffee (or anything other than water, so I virtually have no caffeine). I have always maintained a healthy lifestyle and have lifted weights every day for ten years. A few months back when I was in a stressfulby Zb3 - AFIBBERS FORUM
