Thanks so much. I did take it and feel better about it.by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
This AM i fell hard on blacktop road and got a large hematoma.Cat scan did not show bleed, but they said it could happen any time. ER doc said go ahead and take Eliquis. My electrophysicist won't be in till tomorrow. I see my regular doctor tomorrow morning. I guess if i dont take it i run risk of stroke. If i do take it, it will increase chance of brain bleed, has anyone had a head injuryby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Been in permanent afib for a year. Two conversions failed. Wanted to try metoprolol increase before ablation. Was monitored for two weeks. I haven't seen electrophysicist yet, but was worried about results. I was in afib 100 per cent which was no surprise. But this time i had two episodes of ventricular tachycardia. One was four beats and Maximumof 207 bpm. The other was 8 beats and Averageby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for input. Conversion set for the 24thby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you so much. First pill coming up!by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Three months ago electro phy. and i agreed on rate control. Now he wants me on multaq for three weeks and another cardioversion. He said my rate when active is over 110 and that is too much. Resting is around 90. Is this just getting him ready for ablation? You can't stay on multaq forever can you? My blood pressure runs low and i have glaucoma so i still havent taken first pill. I am 7by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for all your input. My results from nuclear tests were supposedly normal, but when i talked with ep. yesterday he disagreed.. said there was a blockage so i i coildn't use focainide. Said if i chose cardioconversion, he would use multaq. He discussed the negatives of each. It is my decision and he also said needs to be made soon. Said cardioversion had 50 prt cent chance and ablationby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Have not tried ablation. Only things were the iv and cardioversion.by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
After 10 years of three or four afib episodes a year, in Feb. i became permanent. They tried chemical and electric conversion. The electrophys. Wants to use focainide and do another electric conversion. I am on eliquis and one and a half tabs of metoprolol....36 mg. Pulse is around 80 and heart was normal on nuclear test. My cardiologist thinks if i am feeling good why take a chance on new drug.by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
They have never put me on anything....just one half tablet of metapropol .by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Had afib 5 years three or four episodes a year which resolve in less than 10 hours. 9 days ago had one but did not convert Er got pulse from 160 to 123 . But iv didnt convert. They increased my medicine to 25 metapropol from one half tablet. Today they started at 300 and went to 369 i think on cardioconversion. . Said i only got two normal beats. Now they say i need to be on more medicine beforeby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks. When i am in afib, i am all over the place....fast and never anregular beat. Sometimes i have irregular pulse but none of symptoms i have with my ususal afib.by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Is there a difference between itregular pulse and afib? I remember in er they said pulse was itregular but not afib. How do they tell difference? Thanks.by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Following the flu, i became very short of breath. I went to er where they diagnosed heart failure on basis of bnp test. Heart doctor later confirmed diagnosis of congestive heart. . He said bnp test was nearly always right. My bnp was 183. I asked for an echo because my primary care doctor did not believe it was heart failure. As it turned out, i am glad i asked for echo. I made the cardiolby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I got bad case of flu in Feb. Then after i was getting better had a five hour afib episode. Converted on my own. Then five days later started Eliquis. Four hours after second dose, i bloated and got short of breath. Have been experiencing this for six weeks. At first heart doctor thought comgestive heart but echo was,ok,except for slight mitral valve regurgitation which they said could be from agby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
That was er dignosis based on bnp levels. I see cardiologist on march 18 I want an echoby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you. I wish imhad known this. I was afraid to take metoprolol because of my low blood pressure and low pulse. Now it looks like i probably have heart failure. My bnp is 183. I have some shortness of breath and a lot of indigestion which i was convinced was the eliquis. I had bad flu for a week and then a five hour afib episode of around 100. Felt fine for a week and then after two doses ofby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I chose not to,take ambeta blocker, because resting pulse is sometimes 52. Do,all people with afib take beta blockers?by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
i had an episode of afib that lasted five hours. I caught 100'beats per minute. This was feb 25. Started on eliquis and after second dose had bloating and shortness of breath 4 hours later. Fast forward five more days. Went to er for breathing. My bnp was supposed to be 100 and it was 183. So he diagnosed congestive heart. Er doctor thought flu might have contributed as well as afib. That is what i was afraid of. I was prescribed eliquis 2x a day. Thanks for the advice. I will take it.by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
This past Augusti i was diagnosed with par. Afib.i had it for several years before but they never caught it till i went to er. So,doctor gave me a choice whether to go on thinner. He gave me two horrific scenarios, one with a stroke the other with bleeding. I have one point for being 68 and i guess at,that time one for being female. so i chose not to. So three weeks ago i slipped on ice and fellby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, but I can see where it would be weird when you first read it. I should have written cervical neck. He would have been the first to laugh at the mix up. And I do appreciate your input on both kinds of blood thinner . It makes sense why he was put on warfarin since he dealt with low platelets all the time.by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
He did not have a sex change. He died of leukemia a year ago. He not only dealt with the leaukemia but also the damage done to his heart by mistakes made in surgery. He had a congenital spine defect which caused his CERVICAL vertebrae to rupture. He was the bravest person I ever knew and the kindest. Thanks to those who tried to explain the differences in blood thinners.by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
When I asked the original question, I was thinking of my brother whose cardiologist told him he could not use xarelto. This was four years ago. He was battling a rare aggressive form of leukemia and I would imagine that is why they chose warfarin. He had thrown a clot before warfarin because a surgeon did not think blood thinner was warranted after cervical surgery. I realize everyone is going tby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
My cardiologist said it didn't make any difference to him.....eliquis or xarelto. If echogram shows any thing bad imhave to go on one of them. If not, it is my choice. Since I fell today on cement, I am thinking hard on this.by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Outside of more frequent bloodwork and diet restrictions, what are the other downfalls of warfarin? As opposed tio the new drugs, isn't it safer to be able to control the blood levels with regular testing? How do you know what your blood is doing with Eliquis or xarelto? It seems I would have more control over bleeding problems with warfarin. My risk of falling and injury is high because ofby Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just Me Too and Carey, thanks so much for replying. I will be taking an anyicoagulant. Justbthese few days on this forum and I have learned so much. I would rather worry about being on blood thinner than worrying about a stroke.by Erin - AFIBBERS FORUM
