Hi all and Happy Holidays, I had an ablation of the LAA by Dr. Natale back in 10/21 and watchman several months ago. No AFIB or flutter and resting HR usually around 58 in sinus rhythm. Started with flu symptoms a few days ago, slight fever, cough etc. (COVID negative) and still feel a bit off, fever gone but my resting HR has been 71 still in sinus rhythm since the flu started. Wondering how those that have had AFIB and it is being controlled by either medication or ablation(s) cope with the possible or eventual recurrence. It is said that “AFIB begets AFIB” I have undergone three ablations and a Watchman procedure, currently in NSR and have been asymptomatic throughout. But there is a persistent voice in the back of my head telling me to check my Apple watch or Karby Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just curious if the LAA becomes the source of flutter or AFIB again after the LAA was ablated and the watchman installed can the area be ablated again? Or is reoccurrence never the case? Thanks, Tonyby Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all, First off, I want to that the moderators for doing a great job providing this needed service and all those who post their comments and experiences. It certainly helps guide us AFIBBERS on the right path. I had an ablation two months ago by Dr. Natale. (#3, first two at MGH) Flutter was the major problem and it has not reared its ugly head again Stopped Sotalol 5 days ago and my resby Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well the Dr. Natale fix is Wednesday 10/20 Still in flutter 105 bpm most of the time with some runs in the 50's Was scheduled for a cardioversion this past Wednesday but Dr. Natale's office said to hold off as it would be better for me to be in flutter during the procedure. It will be 10 days in low rate flutter by the time I am on the table so I think that will be OK.by Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have had two ablations at MGH by an EP with a 6-9 months waiting list. He has probably done thousands so far and still I am off to Austin next week to get ablation #3 from Dr. Natale. It is all about the person preforming the procedure. Experience is key! If this will be your first ablation you might ask your EP if he/she is partaking in the PFA (Pulsed Field Ablation) trials. I use both an Apple Watch and a Kardia device to monitor heart rate. Both are very helpful. The Apple watch will send me a message/vibrate when my heart rate exceeds certain parameters. You can get an average heart rate or a single lead ECG. The Kardia is a bit more accurate and you can easily download the ECG either single lead or six lead and forward to your EP doctor if necessary. Go toby Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey, I did the sotalol load in the hospital cardioversion the day after the load and it lasted 4 weeks then another CV two weeks ago and back in flutter yesterday. Been on sotalol right along, 120mg 2x. How long should you be in flutter before it becomes a problem?? My HR is 103-108 in flutter. Thanks, Tonyby Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello all again, Had ablation #2 in Feb 2021 and flutter started a month later. Handful of cardioversions later (last one two weeks ago) and on Sotalol 2x daily, drinking plenty of water and keeping magnesium and potassium levels up BUT back into flutter today. Flutter is 2x and Kardia says HR 101. Not scheduled to see Dr. Natale till end of year unless there is a cancellation, probably doubtfby Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
I saw this posted on another forum and thought it is important enough to post here. I would not want Medicare to cut back or cut out funding for ablations !! I know I will most likely need another one in the future. Are you a Medicare patient (in the US and 65 or more)? We need your help to preserve your ability to get an afib catheter ablation when you need one. Medicare (CMS, the Centersby Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, the sotalol does lower the HR but my Kardia readings went from a sinus rhythm type reading at 107 bpm to an AFIB reading of 40-70 bpm over a 30 second period. The sotalol hopefully will keep me out of flutter but the 40-70 AFIB readings kind of suck.by Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all, Well I had my 3 day Sotalol load at MGH and all went fine but no conversion so I had a cardio version the other day to get me out of flutter. While in flutter my HR looked like I was in NSR but at 107BPM, now I am getting 6L Kardia readings of 40-70 BPM while resting. Don't know what to make of that? Currently taking 120mg sotalol 2x, Eliquis 5mg 2x, 80mg aspirin 1x Tonyby Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi and thanks for the responses. I do tolerate Beta Blockers pretty well, not too much blah from them. Currently on 25mg 2x Metoprolol, Eliquis 5mg 2x Dr. said to stay away from Flecainide due to some artery blockage I have. Cursed with a plumbing and electrical problem :-( I assume if it works it will not work for ever and a trip to Austin is in order. On a side note Dr. Natale is dby Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, After 2 RF Ablations over the past 3 years the last one 6 months ago I am in tachycardia / flutter. Two cardio versions kept me out for a month each time. EP wants me to spend three days in hospital this weekend while taking Sotalol hoping that that it will keep me out of tach/flutter. Any feedback and personal experiences with this drug will be helpful. Thanks, Tonyby Tony in Boston - AFIBBERS FORUM
