My understanding is that a-fib can over time change the shape of your heart and, in some cases, eventually lead to heart failure if left untreated. On the other hand, many people live a long and otherwise healthy life with a-fib. So whether or not to have an ablation is a very personal decision. Hi worntorn...I certainly can relate to the feeling of falling through the cracks...the same thing happened to me at the very beginning of my whole process. I discovered that you have to be proactive and make sure that they have you on their radar. My catheter ablation for atrial flutter was done three years ago here in Victoria at the Royal Jubilee by Dr. Paul Novak and was successful. I now have afib and I'm willingly going in for another ablation on March 4th. Although the success rate (75%) for afib ablations is less than a-flutter, which is something like 95%, I have complete confidence in Dr. Novak and the Western Cardiology teamby ijackson57 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joe, I take 80mg of Sotalol twice a day too. Did your afib return when you cut back, and you just live with it? Sotalol doesn't bother me too much, until I hit one particular big hill on my morning walk :-) But I'd rather not be on it if I don't have to! Ireneby ijackson57 - AFIBBERS FORUM
