I tried taurine and got afib from it. Wound up in the cardiologist's office first thing in the morning and told him what I had done and he scolded me, "That crap is in energy drinks," and "You can have a stoke." I'd be careful with it.by Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
Looks like I am anemic. Will that delay having an ablation or have anything to do with it?by Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
I like to walk. Ablation causes some inflammation of the heart. When will I be able to do my strolling again? I don't want to inadvertently hurt myself.by Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteGeorgeN Shortly after my first episode in 2004, I learned of the saying, "afib begets afib." Then I had an episode that lasted 2.5 months. I thought my chances of controlling afib were very low. During the episode, my EP wanted me to stay out of rhythm as my afib heart rate was < 100 BPM (as determined by a holter monitor) & said I was doing well. My path to afib was excby Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteMel-O Yes, but here’s the weird part (or at least I think so). Apparently the inside of the heart has no pain sensors! How else can they punch a hole through your septum between the atria and then scorch the lining yet it feels fine? When my dermatologist burns off a growth it hurts!! As a result, recovering from ablation, you can’t tell if exercise or strain is maybe hurting you. I actuallby Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
I saw an EP today. I asked him if afib progresses even if you do not trigger it. He said yes. I asked if it's just regular aging that does it or what, and he says it's its own disease process that just keeps going on. I wondered what the experience of the people here is? Do you find this applies to you or what? I'm looking for personal experience and not what someone has told yoby Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
>Maybe with all of the going on, just try taking the diltazem during an episode for rate control. Then when your back in >NSR stop taking it. I've done that and I catch hell for it from the hospital personnel. I'm supposed to be taking it every day. That strategy worked 10 years ago when I'd consume too much sugar and have an attack, then take a Dilt and I'd go iby Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM

Do you know how high it goes without the diltiazem? 180 mg ER daily. I've had 4-5 episodes since December. I wouldn't be surprised to find it is implicated in actually causing episodes. That's odd because I've been seen by many cardiologists in the ER. I would have thought that since I was already there and in afib that would be the ideal time to try it, but I guess not.by Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
Why am I taking diltiazem? I'm not so sure it's doing me a lot of good.I have a chronic upper intestinal pain that I can lessen by not using seed oils. I've had trouble with constipation in recent years and it feels like my upper small bowel is paralyzed. I suspect the diltiazem. That problem is somewhat better now, but now it appears I am anemic. Since you can calm yourself with Yoga Nidra that is what I would suggest. Sit up on the couch cross-legged style with back support and just do breathing and at the same time give up on sleeping. Yuttadahmo Bukkhu (Buddhist monk) on youtube says we only need 4 hours of sleep and meditation is very restful on its own. I find abandoning the hope and struggle of trying to sleep the best thing for me.by Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am researching getting an ablation. I'm not exactly sure I quite qualify yet (my cardiologist and ER doctors would disagree), and I understand that after the procedure you may get some chest pain or chest tightness. I wondered if anyone could describe it to me and how much of a burden it is, how long it lasted for you, and anything else you can think of.by Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm sensitive to nuts too. Same thing. I get a bloating pain straight across my torso below my ribs. If I have them too many days in a row I get little runs of arrhythmia. I just had a bag of unsalted almonds (usually my fave is cashews) two days ago and I've got the typical what I think is inflammation in my gut. It gets better over a few days. Hi all. Male, 67. I just had a 3 day episode where it felt like afib started up, so I went to ER but it was NSR with an HR of 140. It just stayed like that for 3 days. They were about to do a cardioversion when my HR slowed down. They had me on digoxin because the usual diltiazem wasn't helping, just lowering my BP. This is a new thing for me. Usually for the past 10 yrs I'veby Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
I know what was causing the arrhythmia. I have a new trigger: ice water. Dehydration is a trigger of mine so I try to stay hydrated and got into the habit of ice water over the summer. Yesterday I had quite a few sudden episodes of between 5 and 12 fast beats, SVTs I'd assume, plus two, one minute episodes of afib during the night. I get those from taking a drink or water and going to thby Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
I get trembly muscles in my legs and generally what feels like all over when I have a bad afib attack. I had one last week, saw my HR spike up to 188, but was back in NSR by the time they got me on the EKG in the ER about 20 min later. So this one I didn't have for long, but it was sudden and severe and scary. So yeah there can be some impending doom feelings that go along with it. I just trby Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've been having small attacks 1-3 minutes at a time every day for the past 3 weeks or so. I keep a journal and usually attribute episodes to something I ate, but lately I'm wondering what's going on or if it's significant or should I be alarmed or what. For instance I had one minute of afib at 1:30 this morning after lying back down. I'm careful to lie back down slowby Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM

My heart was loud all the time before I started a serious meditation routine. I was doing 2 hrs in the morning and 2 hrs before bed every day (kept a journal and never missed a day). Did this for 4 years, now I do shorter meditations before bed, sitting up in bed. My heart is never that loud anymore unless I'm in afib, then it's all I can think about. I'm sure you know the feeling.by Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had 2 cardioversions 2 weeks apart last Mar-April and haven't had a long episode since then. I'm 67, male, normal weight, no bad habits. Me, I can't add any electrolytes to my diet. Magnesium in any form triggers me. Yogurt will constipate and the calcium will trigger me. Esophageal spasms? They are supposedly rare but I get them. AFAIK all the nerves etc are interwoven in that part of the body. For all I know, if something goes wrong in one of them it can affect the other ones. I get little arrhythmia sensations after an episode. I have to be careful with my diet. I can eat NO carbs, sugar or salt. I would suggest keeping a journal and eating only meat and green vegetables and when you fall off the wagon (which I do and that's how I learned about my diet triggers) and have an episode, write it down. May I strongly suggest keeping a paper journal and not a computer journal. "I was in NSR until I ate X,"by Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hokay thanks everyone for replying. To recap, on Feb 2 I had the really bad (IMO) attack 12 hrs popping pills and then staying overnight in the hosp. I asked if I could go home and the ER doc said "If we take you off the IV, your heart rate will go back up again." So if I'm in afib and I'm overreacting to it, then why would it matter if my HR went up if afib is relativelyby Shiny Sleeves - AFIBBERS FORUM
