Magnesium intolerance is the term used for when someone begins to get diarrhea from a bit too much magnesium. Imodium is an anti-diarrheal over the counter medicine.by George77 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I thought this might be important. For anyone who may be using Imodium to counteract the effects of too much magnesium....read the above link...by George77 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, thank you for your great input, from reading allot of posts on here, I've really come to value your experience, knowledge and input. I have Dr. Brownstein's book on Iodine. I just received in the mail today, his DVD entitled "Iodine why you need it, why you can't live without it" ... I'll be viewing that sometime tomorrow. Thanks for your advice, I appreciateby George77 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barry, thanks for your reply... I have been Hypo-thyroid since 18, but was not treated for it until I was 28. I was put on T3 in 1988, along with a fairly high ( but needed) regimen of potassium, and felt in tip-top, great condition, advancements and promotions as a computer systems analyst, life was good, everything was fine....then in 1999 my great and very wise doctor passed away at age 88. Thanks, yes I've considered the Kardia device, but I see many, many bad reviews about the questionable results it gives, and subpar customer service, left on Amazon.com. I'm out of condition, I used to train an hour very hard training...every day until a few years ago, I injured my foot and had to have a bone fused with a steel rod. GeorgeN, thanks for your response...I've settled on 100mg of magnesium orotate in the morning and 600 mg of Remag Magnesium, sipped throughout the day...totaling 700mg per day. The bowel tolerance problem is NOT a problem at that level....when I went up to 1100+ I had too much of a lax effect, I have Magnesium gel, don't like the "stickiness" when using that, but I do use it oby George77 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, thanks for the response on this thread. I have noticed a definite improvement. My Potassium at last blood test was up to 4.2 ( from two weeks ago 3.9) and my RBC-magnesium is at its highest yet in two years at 5.2, so it is getting better...the "fluttering Afib" has been kept at bay....I do still have an occasional occurance of a high pulse rate if out in the heat minimally exeby George77 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anyone get a high pulse rate just from walking? ( Especially in the current heat in Florida ) .... On vacation, just walking to dinner....1/2 mile, maybe 3/4 of a mile, I got back to the hotel room, pulse was 122. Didn't feel like Afib though....I don't know if I'm just getting used to the Afib, or that is just a high pulse rate from walking in the heat. Sitting down in air conby George77 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Try these with your meals. I was on an enzyme by prescription only, called Cotazym , but the new insurance won't approve it....my old 88 year old Doctor had me on those from 1988 through to 1999, so the ones above are the next best thing....by George77 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the response...how did the berberine work? I have a bottle of Swansons Berberine, but I'm hesitant to try anything new... Did you have a positive or negative, or neutral response with Berberine? Jackie, Thanks for that detailed response. I do know about the Exa Test, I asked a previous Doctor about it in 2015, but he had no knowledge of it. He was a good Doctor,( prior to being a Doctor he was a Biochemistry college professor so he was very open to the idea of checking the Rbc-magnesium when the cardiologist wanted me on a "calcium channel blocker" the obstinate cardiologisby George77 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anyone have any experience with this? Pro or Con? 35 years ago I took Kelp tablets for Iodine in the abscence of using salt....stopped taking them though within a year or so because they seemed inconsequential.... It seems like iodine might be a missing link? Some people have suggested the vagus nerve can ( in some cases, not all ) cause an effect on the heart creating their Afib to start. I'm noticing my last three episodes of "elevated pulse rates", and the one ER visit with full Afib...were all preceded by having had dairy product of some sort the day before. I've been avoiding dairy, because I thought I might be developing a milk protein allergy. Thank you for your response....I would love to get my RBC-mag level up over 6. It's been bouncing between 4.0 and 5.2 for the last year, 5.2 being my recent highest since starting on this quest to follow my RBC-magnesium. This is a great, informative thread. I've been trying to increase my Rbc-Magnesium levels for about a year....I think that taking a little too much magnesium causes diarrhea which then causes a net loss of magnesium, but also causes a loss of potassium and other electrolytes.
