I experienced proximal atrial fibrillation for several months. For me an events could be dilatating but would self-correct. While my doctor diagnosed arrhythmia, had extreme difficulty documenting an event on a monitor or an EKG. Finally, had an event and went straight to my EP cardiologist and was able to capture the event on an EKG. Had an ablation with Natale in March 2011 and event freeby JAYHAWK - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey Why do you think that? I assume that if the normal EKG indicates I am in arrhythmia the Kardia would indicate a false positive as well. Thanks Steveby JAYHAWK - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the comments. At one point I was going to get a Kardia but decided it would indicate I was in arrhythmia when I actually was not. Prior to my ablation there was never a doubt when an event occurred......it would be depilating. My heart rate would be so rapid and erratic that my blood pressure would plummet and I would nearly black out. In fact that is how my AF was originally diaby JAYHAWK - AFIBBERS FORUM
I posed this question several years ago and tried to locate the post but a search did not go back far enough. Quick history…… Natale ablation for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in March 2011 and basically issue free since. If a problem develops will head back to Austin. Thanks George!! Thanks for your comments and open to any potential ideas. That is why I opted to try cryotherapy is the first place.. Also appreciate your thoughts on PEMF....unless I find a reason to not use will continue. The only downside to these therapies is the cost......it is outrageously expensive!!!!!!!!!! I came here today to pose a question about any potential risks with PEMF (pulsed electro magnetic field) therapy and atrial fibrillation.. To my surprise the question was asked last week!!! However, the question evolved into a discussion on another topic. So want to raise the question again. My respect to Hans Larsen. I was fortunate to find his website early in my arrythmia diagnosis many years ago.(Natale ablation in 2011). Tremendous contribution, information and guidance here......from Hans, then Shannon and many others. Steve Worford Spring, Tx.by JAYHAWK - AFIBBERS FORUM
Earlier this week I received an email from StopAfib.Org advising me of potential Medicare actions in reference to ablations. The following is the email I sent to my Congressman Dan Crenshaw.. Thanks Carey I was on warfarin immediately after the procedure but Natale stopped it after four weeks and prescribed the aspirin. Basically issue-free since the ablation so leaning toward stopping the 81 mg aspirin. I have been treated for hypertension since I was 25....now 75. It is an inherited "family curse"!!!! Had a Natale ablation in 2011. I live in the Houston area and with assistance from Shannon got the name of an experienced EP cardiologist from Natale. Saw this doctor to establish a point of contract. This was not the same doctor I used prior to my ablation. Steve Spring, Tx.by JAYHAWK - AFIBBERS FORUM
After my Natale ablation in March 2011 he prescribed a 356 mg aspirin daily. Several years later after reading several opinions (including here) about the efficacy of aspirin with atria fibrillation (stroke prevention) discussed with Natale and he changed to 81 mg aspirin. Recently read an opinion that seemed to indicate there might be a negative impact of aspirin as well as little or no benefiby JAYHAWK - AFIBBERS FORUM
Unfortunately just saw this today after an absence with recovery from COVID. Tried to submit my opinions but they are no longer accepting information. Problem-free since Natale ablation in March 2011. FYI.....finally opted to get the vaccine. Had all the side-affect of the vaccine and then got COVID five days later!!!!! Thought I would add my story here. I am 74 and when I was in my early 50's was diagnosed with low testosterone. My internist prescribed Androgel to be applied daily. The only real symptoms of low T were my numbers. Stayed on the gel for six months and my numbers rose to above normal but no other effects. I really disliked rubbing the gel on daily so I quit.. Have been away from this forum since the first of the year. Interestingly, just had my 10 year anniversary since my Natale ablation......completely overlooked the milestone until I re-visited this site today. Guess that is how it is supposed to work. Can't think of a better endorsement for Natale!!!!! The new website is awesome. Steve Spring, Tx.by JAYHAWK - AFIBBERS FORUM
My life was debilitated by arrhythmia and experienced practically all the side affects of the anti-arrhythmic medication. So in 2011 had a Natale ablation. No medication post ablation other than aspirin. Natale recommended that I not resume my exercise program for approximately six weeks after the procedure. Today I am 73 and train 3 days per weeks. Late to this topic but I have had several injections in each shoulder, one in my back and two in my neck without any issue in reference to arrhythmia. I had a bizillion injection in both knees leading to replacements without issue (prior to my ablation). Steve Spring, Tx..by JAYHAWK - AFIBBERS FORUM
I live in the Houston area and unless you have some other underlying health issues would not delay your procedure for COVID reasons. Most all hotels are following safe procedures and there is ample take-out, delivery or dine in food choices. QuoteGeorgeN Hi Steve, my comment from the peanut gallery. If your ablation included LAA work or more generally outside the PV's, then yes newer techniques. Assume if no LAA or other non PV work, it was because it was not needed at the time. If the work was not done, of course it does not mean that the disease could not progress to the other areas. Reading the recent discussion on the recurrence of arrhythmia after a successful ablation got my attention and generated some questions. Bit of background..... had a successful Natale ablation in March 2011 and have been medication free since (per Natale recommendation take 83 mg aspirin daily). Thanks for the articles. My internist was initially of the opinion that testosterone could be a catalyst for prostrate cancer but never my oncologist,,,,,he is the head of the genitourinary group at Memorial Hermann Hospital System here in Houston and sees a high number of prostrate cancer cases. I will be very candid......have experienced low testosterone for quite some time ( fluctuates between low 200's and high 100's) due to an orchiectomy for testicular cancer (15 years ago). My experience..... Had my first meeting with Natale in November 2010. For me it was an exploratory meeting....at the time I was very adamant against any heart procedures. So I attempted to do so.....completely scheduled throughl Maby JAYHAWK - AFIBBERS FORUM
In a bit of a quandary about aspirin usage. Had a Natale ablation in March 2011 for proxamol arrhythmia with no issues since. Only medication recommended by Natale at the time was 325 mg aspirin. As previously stated everyone is different For me the recovery was very non-eventful. My Natal ablation was on a Thursday, came home on Friday and back in the office on Monday.
