I had a the procedure quite some years ago. It never really worked. These days I I still suffer with terrible reflux and have developed Barrett’s Syndrome. In hindsight I wish I’d not had the operation.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
There are quite a few studies that show excess weight can contribute to AF. Also excess weight can cause sleep apnea, which also can contribute to episodes of AF.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Susan No I don’t have TMJ. You do have to be cautious about any dental work as the drugs can effect the jawbones. However the possibility of breaking the femur concerns me more. I’m having difficulty doing my walk each day due to my feet being really sore, and dizziness from my heart being up and down not helping with balance. I think he will probably take me off Prolia and give me anby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have severe Osteoporosis and was on Prolia injections, six monthly, for a couple of years. However I began experiencing pain in my groin and upper thigh. I was advised to stop treatment as there is a rare but real danger of breaking the Femur bone. Just recently after another Dexa Scan my Osteoporosis has worsened with demineralisation off my pelvis.so I was told I would need to start treatby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’ve tried all the meds, and nothing helps. BB’s slow it down but turn me into a zombie. Really I just ride them out, try and keep exercising, walking swimming, riding my bike, altho riding my bike has seen me have a few falls so that’s on hold. Earlier in the year I spent a few sleepless nights on the PC and put together a song and a slide show about my AF. I enjoy watching it when I get anby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
It’s definitely an individual thing. I am very symptomatic, experiencing chest, arm and jaw pain, shortness of breath, passing out and extreme dizziness. My heart rate like Carey’s around 180, but has slipped into the 200s plus. I have given up going to the ER an try to manage it at home. I wish for a quieter heart on a daily basis.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Condolences on the loss of your friend Elizabeth. They are our most loyal companions and it’s so sad when they go.❤️by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Is it possible the stroke risk after ablations could be somehow due to the fact that although the heart may be quieter post procedure , I (and others on this forum) can still feel very strong vibrations in top of chest. Many times when I think I have gone into AF, when I take my pulse my HR is ok but my chest is still quivering. Just a thought. We really don’t know all the ins and outs of AF aby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’m thinking along those lines Susan. I often read on this site where many people need to go back for touch ups after multiple procedures by top EPs. I’ve had this for such a long time as well. Back in the day no one listened when you suffered with this condition. I’ve had some interesting conversations in my younger years about what I was actually suffering from, and why. Hysteria, panic aby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Carey. The fast HR is regular and just comes on out of the blue. I think the issue lies with me as I have had the condition (AF) for decades, and probably longer. My original cardiologist(s) did nothing to help and I just went along with the ridiculous advice given at the time. I'm more concerned about my heart rate variability and if anyone uses an Apple watch to check it. Iby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
A Quick question. Hi everyone. I’ve had two ablations in last 2 years, my second one lasting 8 months ( bliss ) I am getting AF episodes again as well as quick bursts of very fast HR which I think are probably SVT. I’m feeling very fatigued and out of sorts, but this maybe due to my disappointment that my AF is back. My Apple Watch shows my HRV as extremely low, around 12-18. Should Iby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Of course prolonged high HR can be dangerous depending on how long and other symptoms you may have like shortness of breath, near fainting spells or fainting spells, chest pain etc. Not to be taken lightly if it persists for long periods, as I have discovered.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Be very careful. I had strict instructions to take it easy. I thought I was... rested a day then, back to walking my 6-8 km a day, a bike ride or two, shopping, etc. I developed a large hematoma in my groin after both procedures. Needless to say my EP was unimpressed. That said, I can't say I wouldn't do the same again. ( I'm fairly pig headed about my body and what'sby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
There are two types of MD. Wet , caused by leakage of fluid or blood into the retina, and Dry , which is age related. I have Wet MD and have been on eye injections for 3 years. I have very poor vision in my right eye and am very nervous about my left. Wet MD is the leading cause of blindness. My MD came on suddenly, one minute I could see clearly, the next I couldn’t. I’ve had three haemorrhagby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’ve had Medtronic Linq for 3 years, which has just run out of battery. Along with the device, I also was given a bedside machine, which recorded episodes and sent them onto my EP each night. Minimum of fuss.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM

I think no one dies from AF, but they do die from strokes, or worse, live as a vegetable. I'd always err on the side of cautionby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I think it’s wise to go to the ER if you feel unsure. You can always get up and leave after they have checked you out. I’ve lost a couple of friends who decided not to go, and while I don’t always go myself, I have been living with it (AF) for decades so am fairly astute about when I need to. That said, I have passed out when I thought I was fine. Just be aware of how you feel in general. Weby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Funnily enough, I first thought it was me or my equipment. I set about rebooting everything. When that didn’t work I chased up Cloudflare and asked them what the problem was. When that also didn’t bring any Joy (pun intended) I called a tech friend of mine who suggested I ‘relax’ and wait a day or two. Me relax…haha Decided to do a couple of strenuous gym workouts instead and that irritateby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I think what we can say is, that all procedures on the heart are complex and sometimes complicated, and unfortunately people can die. I agree that choosing the best you possibly can will surely put the odds on your favour. I’ve had two ablations and a few CVS and 8 months of glorious SR with some small hiccups. Now, over the last couple of months I’ve had a mixture of AF and a very fast hearby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
If we’re asking our GP who is not a Cardiologist, about things a cardiologist MIGHT know about, then the answer is blowing in the wind. We may as well ask a chef. My GP, for whom I have great respect, would not answer that question, and I would not expect her to.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’ve missed a dose on numerous occasions, with no I’ll effects. It’s a bit like stopping it for a procedure. I’ve also stopped taking it for some months after having a haemorrhage in my eye. ( obviously my EP wasn’t happy) I have stopped taking it since Dec 12 this year as other eye playing up. I’m not advising anyone to do this, because I could come unstuck, however I think missing one dose iby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lol...Carey. I am an agnostic but am loath to say it out loud, just in case, and here I am writing it for thousands to see ( and maybe the one who sees all just spotted it...oh dear) ><by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ditto George and Carey A book was published in the 1990s about the inappropriate use of the drug. DEADLY MEDICINE: Thomas J Moore " Why Tens of Thousands of Heart Patients Died in America's Worst Drug Disaster Hardcover – March 1, 1995" It's reasonably safe for some.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
That’s great news. Congratulations.I had AF for decades before deciding on an Ablation. That was mostly due to poor advice from my then Cardiologist. Life is so much better.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
