I objected since 1) I hate statins and 2) I took them years ago and found I had profound muscle weakness that never truly resolved with time. Now the packet inserts and the PDR state they can cause muscle weakness among many other side effects. I note that they cut my time from 3 months to 30 days after my notby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Steve - with the aspartate form, you may be one of the lucky people that can tolerate it - but it would be far wiser not to tempt fate and switch to another form of magnesium. I'm totally convinced that the magnesium glycinate form - plain - nothing else in the supplement is what allowed me to maintain NSR for the two months preceeding my ablation and now, afterwards. I just posted a commby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anthony - Hawthorne is frequently recommended for heart support and especially with supplements for afib. Several doctors I've consulted with in the past and who use natural remedies have also recommended Hawthorne. Since you seem to get along with it, it probably works for you; however, everytime I tried it, I experienced increased episodes of afib. I presume you do have afib - and dby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Char - so glad to hear from you and that your are in NSR. You've been on my mind ever since you went in. After you've been through so much for so long, it truly must be heaven for you. I agree. God Bless Dr. Natale. Strange about Dr. Joseph, though. Odd duck. As I said, he should stick to plumbing and skip the PR portion. Thanks for your good news.Best regards, Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dear Fran - You certainly have been to hell and back. I marvel at your life's story at every turn. Thanks so much for sharing. I'm so grateful that you have survived to share with us. We are all richer for it. The time you take to communicate and share with others is admirable, and especially so now that you are afib free. Thanks so much for giving of yourself. Sheryl - Thanks for writing. It will be worth the wait so be sure get on the list immediately. I'd recommend doing it close to home, just for peace of mind, although people travel regularly from all over to the CCF seemingly without a problem. Your husband's life will certainly normalize. In the meantime, please have faith that you are doing the right thing. I can't tell you hby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Carol - thanks for your message. I do plan to stay on mag glycinate indefinitely. Now that I know what I know about intractable magnesium deficiency, I don't dare risk something else cropping up due to a deficiency. I will most likely just maintain between 400 and 600 mg daily ... but will alter it depending on circumstances. I truly think magnesium is what made the difference...and Iby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

Frank - thanks for your kind comments. I was on Flecanide for a little over 3 years. It began to fail keeping me in NSR - actually, it never did work 100% - but with the increased magnesium, I was able to reach NSR and stay there until ablation. Newman - what you bring up is certainly true - sad but true. Some years back, I took a biomedical ethics course at the local college and this very topic was examined in great detail. I was the "mature" person in that class so my perspective on the value of harvesting parts was far different from that of the average college person. Hi Jim - Thanks for this - I'll be getting mine soon and will compare with your report. Yep, Dr. Joseph was the discharge doc I had as well. In fact, the minute he came in I could sense from his body language he was the one you and Newman mentioned as "Mr. Personality." I tried my usual charm on him and he didn't falter. Hi again all. I just had to write this last post today. All things considered, afib is not the worst thing that could happen to us and I was poignantly reminded of that last evening when a young woman (Cassandra) came to share my hospital room. Hers is a tragic story. I am so moved by her courage. She is dying of liver failure at the tender age of 43. She had a blood transfusion in 198by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
JR - Don't be discouraged. From what the CCF says and from what I read, breakthrough arrhythmia is normal - albiet discouraging. Robert A. - I have long theorized that a contributor to afib was an acidic condition - acidosis. My experiments to keep my pH as close to neutral or slightly on the alkaline side have proven over and again that I stay out of afib. I have a friend with afib who can convert himself by taking both baking soda, salt and magnesium citrate in warm water and sipping it. It seems to work for him. Noby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
