I know how you are feeling, been there done that. In my case, the pre-op phone call, I was en route to Austin and had just pulled into a Buc-ee's parking lot. First call with his PA, as Dr. Natale was still with a patient in the cath lab, then second call about 3 hours later with both Dr. Natale and the PA, we had just pulled into yet a second Buc-ee's parking lot for lunch LOL. Quotegloaming The rationale is that the virus is changing constantly, and not in a great way. Each vaccine is modified to account for the most recent strain, although it's about three to six months after the latest determination. Additionally, the science so far says that the vaccine loses its efficacy after about three months or a bit more, so getting a booster every six months, which is tby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
10 doses of Covid vaccines / boosters in 4 1/2 years seems overly excessive and I can’t think of any other preventative vaccine, booster or annualized “shot” that requires or needs such frequency. Throw in exemption from liabilities of the pharmaceutical companies from any harm done should not have been allowed and those that allowed it were greatly mistaken in their grossly reckless, negligent aby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotegloaming I went from an episode every year or so to an episode every few days prior to my first ablation. Obviously there was progression of a sort. To me, an episode once a month means you're mature and advanced in the paroxysmal stage, but not necessarily half or most of the way through it.....for you, maybe not for me. We're all different that way. It gives me confidence knowiby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteDaisy Congratulations! And thanks for sharing your story. I woke up with that bandage on my neck after both my ablation and my Watchman--jugular vein I believe. At least they take if off in the hospital. I really had no idea I was at this level / condition with the Afib. I had progressed from once every 3 months or so to about once a month, almost like-clockwork schedule. Weird. Colorby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Everybody It Has Been Awhile. Trip One. Headed to Austin in August. PF PVI was planned along with the extraction of my 35 month old implanted heart loop monitor. Woke up in Recovery after PVI PLUS unexpected surprises including LAA Isolation, Posterior Wall, Ceiling, another wall, a little on the Right. Lots of activity near the LAA thus the Isolation. Trip Two last week. I becameby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
He fixed it. 🤪 Well next time . . . and during my upcoming ablation recovery period, it is outta here. Maybe a Sole F80 or F85.by Qwackertoo - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Looks like I will need to replace my older Nordictrack 1750. Several years ago, just days after the warranty expired, had issues and thankfully Nordictrack sent out a new FREE console and since husband is quite handy and an electrical engineer he had no problem replacing it. Well fast forward a few more years and now while it still works, that darn iFit gets in a viscous never ending loop thatby Qwackertoo - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
I've suffered greatly from severe allergies all my life. During the past couple of years, it has been better using Arm & Hammer Saline Solution at night before bedtime. Spray a little each side then blow blow blow each side at bathroom sink. During the Covid years, I'd especially remember to do it after being out and about and around more germs and pretty much never caught it . .by Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Daisy, I will work on fine tuning 3 questions this week. Maybe have a 4th as back up IF the answers to the others go really fast. I'll definitely have prepared notes so I don't get flustered and forget anything. Thanks~!by Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Daisy~! Good to know. Many of my most recent episodes have been right around 6 a.m. upon wakening so there is a chance I could be in AF day of but was worried they'd send me home and reschedule.by Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Pixie and mjamesone~! Appreciate your replies.by Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
gloaming, I should have said a couple of weeks instead of a few weeks. And yes, I am guilty of overthinking everything about this, both before and after . . . down to non-important details like what can I wear and NOT wear a bra just in case I'm really sore and other things that don't really matter. You name it, I've thought/worried about it. They may or may not remove my currentby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks so much for your reply And your time too!!! The call is scheduled for while we are in transit to Austin so I’ve planned to stop at least 15 minutes prior so there will be no road noise or traffic distractions. I’m thinking I should narrow myself down to my 3 most important questions, written down, so I don’t get flustered or too in-depth into minor aspects with his time vs major conby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Since I haven’t had my pre-op appt I was wondering how much it will help eliminate my PAC’s. I had to take HRV off from my pinned data highlights as some of the extreme numbers were making me so anxious. And with a telemed appt I don’t think I’ll get the opportunity to ask a lot of questions in the time allotted. Here’s hoping for AF and PAC’s to both get zapped away!!!by Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank You Carey & gloaming I did not know this. One less thing for me to worry & wonder about. I had already started wondering about What If's . . . after traveling all the way and in the hotel and following my 3 nights extra in Austin with nice little B&B stay in East Texas then rest of travel home to break things up a little bit. Whew~! I haven't been assigned mby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteNBeener Something to think about: If the 'atrial kick' is responsible for as much as 40% of stroke volume (and, therefore, cardiac output), and afib is disrupting/diminishing your atrial kick, this could mean that -- when you're in afib -- your cardiac output is temporarily reduced. QuoteCarey I wouldn't start any new supplements now if I were in your shoes. Thanks, Carey. With your experience of 6 ablations, I have another question. What happens IF I have an episode the morning of my PFA? Either early hours or right before or while I'm there since I haven't been told what time to show up yet. Do they cancel it? Try to get me out of AF and proceed aby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm now within the 30 day window to my PFA. Episode last night with some gurgling in the abdomen and more gurgling this a.m. I'm pretty much just taking my Eliquis and supplementing with Mg with an occasional glass of V8. Anybody else here supplement with probiotics? I have my normal blood work appt next week, fasting. Is there any other test I might request that would or couby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
So far my instructions from Natale are Stay on It and Don’t Miss a Dose~!!! I’m not yet at the 30 day prior mark, getting close, but they said not to miss a dose 30 days prior. I’m about to set second alarm on Apple Watch because I have been known to forget the morning dose or take it an hour or two late. Edited to add Local EP said same thing about the 30 day/don’t miss instructions before Iby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Carey. I will cross that bridge after the Ablation and see what they find and what they hopefully fix/mitigate. Good to know that there are "ways around" the problem. I will just need to make absolutely sure that they are completely and totally aware of whatever my medication situation is at the time. Sometimes I am a wee bit wary . . . like when my own Cardiologist wantedby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting. And yet as of late 2022 some EP’s are still prescribing the oxide version of Mg or at least that is what mine did. From what I’ve read, there are much better choices . Hit or Miss on this rocky AF Road!!!by Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks again Carey, that is very good to know that highly skilled EP will do as much as possible on this first go round vs maybe a regular EP might just tackle the PVI portion.by Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Carey. So unknown, how long after Ablation they'd keep me on Eliquis or forever, but guessing one could go off of it for 24, 48 or 72 hours after an appropriate waiting period after an Ablation? I guess then it gets into half life etc etc on the dosage in my system. Today I'm starting my list of questions for when I get assigned a nurse navigator coordinator person.by Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteGeorgeN Thanks for your comments Anit-Fib & Carey! For those who don't know, ERP is atrial effective refractory period. It was discussed in our Conference Room years ago: I did some AI queries on lengthening ERP. I've thought about it for years, primarily in the area of electrolytes. Turns out my lifestyle includes many of the suggestions, even though I wasn't spby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wonder, depending on what is going on IF sometimes they use a little bit of both RF and PFA? Since more than one catheter is used. Or do PFA and then go back up thru with the other and finish up with RF something that PFA couldn't adequately address?by Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just curious, how long is considered acceptable to have other procedures After one has an ablation? Of course I will be asking TCA at some point but don't want to ask too many questions too soon and be labeled as one of "those" patients. LOL. Cataract surgery? 5 minutes. Numbing drops in eyes. Or other things that could crop up. Granted I've really only experienby Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
George, this is a really great forum with such a long history containing in-depth comprehensive information and has had and continues to have some very smart, great people that contribute and willingness to share all this knowledge with us who suffer from AF to learn, benefit and even cope with AF. I am very thankful that I found afibbers!!!!by Qwackertoo - AFIBBERS FORUM
