Thanks for your comments to my post, GGHeld. I agree it's likely time to get a second consultation, especially from an EP. I'm in communication with Kelley, Dr. Natale's Nurse Practitioner. (Living in the Los Angeles area, this is lucky for seeing Dr. N). I must wait until next year when I change back from an HMO to a PPO... Hi everyone, As I mentioned earlier in 'My Afib has Changed', a few weeks ago I started getting tachycardia, or 'flutter', leaving me very winded and weak. Until then, I rarely took my beta blocker and managed my heart pretty well with magnesium. These new symptoms were not manageable with large amounts of mag, or very well managed by the beta blocker I currently have, wby californiagal - AFIBBERS FORUM
Vanlith, thanks for answering my earlier questions. I will check out the product you mention. It DOES sound good. / I like the idea of the 3 mags and only wish I knew why Taurine always gives me intestinal gas. I assume it's the sulfur, and I must have sulfur pathways issues. I saw my general cardiologist this afternoon as a follow up to a stress test and echocardiogram, and for clearaby californiagal - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for your notes, Vanlith. As I said earlier to GeorgeN, I stopped my Carvedilol today when I started 125 mcg of Digoxin prescribed yesterday after a Stress Test. I never cared for carvedilol, so good to be off it, even if I only took it 'as needed' in the past. I was taking the supplemental A (alternating with beta carotene) after reading Kate Rheaume-Bleue's book on Vby californiagal - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, George. I'll back way down on my supps and see if any might be causing this. Yes, it seems that I can take a little calcium before I get that feeling of 'hardness' in my heart area. Btw, a calcium scan I had done around 9 months ago showed a score of 44, which is said to be within normal range for a person of my age/gender. 7 to 8 years ago my scan score was 14.by californiagal - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Carey, I don't know what kind of fast heart rate it would be called. Perhaps it was flutter. Sometimes it would be be in rhythm and sometimes not. I'll see the cardiologist next Tuesday for a follow up on the stress test and echocardiogram and will ask more questions. It seemed to come on a few weeks ago without any reason that I could sense. When the rate was high (nothing higby californiagal - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just throwing out my 2 cents on this. I agree with Joe --"Got to have to do with cellular condition and or intracellular environment". I think it's the cellular changes in electrons (the calcium/sodium, mag and potassium) which makes the heart tissue/cells more subject to excitability. I've had a light case of afib since 2015. I'm currently 71 yrs and in good health besides the afib. I'm on 15 mg of Xarelto daily and take a mult-vi-min, plus extra K2-MK7, Vit A, Vit D, C fish oils, (maybe some other things) and of course, lots of magnesium. Usually I take Mg glycinate but also like the orotate version. I try to take Taurine, but have a sulfur-pathway problem soby californiagal - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi everyone, Like GeorgeN, my heart responds quickly to magnesium supplementation whenever it goes a little wacky. So I take mag glycinate caps throughout the day. I also take D3, 2000 IUs and K2-MK4 120 mcg. daily, sometimes with some Thorne K2-Mk4 drops thrown in... plus fish oils. And Vit C and other nutrients. Hello, I'm still sorting through this, so this question may be premature, but maybe you Nataly folks might have some ideas. I recently emailed my HMO cardiologist if he would consider giving me a referral to Andrea Nataly for consult and/or ablation. His replied that he doesn't know Nataly and can instead refer to Los Angeles based Cedars Sinai EPs for this treatment. I've onlby californiagal - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ken, Sorry for the delay in replying. Any supplement (and food) that is sulfur-rich can: 1. give me gas, and 2. cause my eyes to burn after a few days of large intake. Someone mentioned once to me that molybdenum helps 'sulfur pathways in the body' and I found it DOES help with the intestinal gas. (Chewing anise seeds helps too). For the eyes burning I just back off the sulfur produby californiagal - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've started taking either Taurine or Cardiovascular Research's Mag Taurate recently and find it steadies my heart even better than mag does. And mag does a good job! ( I have a little problem processing the sulfur in the taurine, but have a few tricks to handle that). I'm grateful for your articles on taurine, Jackie. For many years I took a small dose of name brand Wellbutrin, stopping it after being diagnosed with paroxysmal afib in 2015. Sometimes I miss the extra energy it gave me, and today my cardiologist emailed that he'd approve a small dose prescription if I want to go consider re-starting it. (I wanted his input as to whether he thought it's a good idea with a afib diagnosis). Am still conby californiagal - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm having difficulty getting any response from Intracellular Diagnostics re: the Exatest. I've reached out to them via phone (3 times) and email (once). Jackie, I didn't receive the private message from you around 12/20/21, probably sharing your personal intake amts of K2-MK7. Can you try again? Tkx, CA gal I didn't read far enough in the thread. Thanks for your earlier reply. CGby californiagal - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Jackie, thanks for this wise reply. Do I need to be taking around 300 mcg of K2 MK7 daily? Can I ask how much you take? (Seems I've also read in the past that if one has an Apoe ratio with one 4 or more, that more K2 is required. I DO have one 4 in my ratio).by californiagal - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
I'm well versed in nutrition and supplements and as a 'lightweight' afibber, know the value of magnesium and take mag glycinate and sometimes Mag theonate. I'm 71, in good general health, but have osteopenia. Recently, my GP wanted me to look into bone preservation meds. They do not sound good to me at all. Robin, I got off my Xarelto last June and have felt better having done so. There's more to the story of why I felt I could do this within a safety margin, but won't go into this here. Susan, I just noticed my original post about L- Carnitine wasn't completed. I'm new to posting here, so must have missed something there.
