Don't remember the precise way. In my case, he told me that they are not that reliable predicting clot formationand with the new class of anti clotting drugs blood tests aren't necessary . Not being an expert i can't really argue with the cardiologist. He just goes by the CHADs score. I would have thought if one's blood has normal clotting values then why would one take antiby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anneh, did your doctor order a clotting test? I was asked to take 5mg Eliquis 2x/day and he just told me it's because of my CHADs score 1.5 to 2. I only took 1/day for about the last year and have stopped now taking it completely. He did tell me that with my score the risk of a hemorrhage taking Eliquis is about equal to the risk of a clot by not taking the anticoagulant. I take 20 mg oby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George! Read 'The Plant Paradox' Not really convinced of it applying universally. Meaning that lectins etc. aren't a problem for people who don't have these sensitievities? Could also partly have to do with dosage? At the same time it is worthwhile going lectin and gluten free, because the downsides are minimal, and see if it helps alleviate problems.by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
George N. I read 'The End of Alzheimer's' by Dr Bredesen - impressive work. Lucky man to have dinner with him!by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Jackie! I listened to Dr Pall's talk. He is right, a lot of it goes over my head but there is enough to show the non thermal effects of EMFs, and in particular the pulsing ones. Interesting him mentioning that magnesium helps to mitigate EMF exposure effects - if i understood him correctly.by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Liz, do you mean TSH, T4, T3, rT3? Interested because they suspected my afib was due to thyroid hormone imbalance.by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good news story! Where in Australia are you? I'm in Melbourne. Have eaten natto but there are a few varieties in different colour packaging - what type are you eatingby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey might be right but i doubt it. If afib is anything like alzheimers (well, both are chronic diseases) epigenetics come into play and diet among other factors are important - massively so. The big question is, what is the optimum diet and life style for you? Not having alcohol, transfats, chemicals that kill your good gut biom e.g. Roundup residues might be a good start. I got afib a biby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM

Doesn't Dr John say that even when the LAA is isolated the patient must remain on anticoagulants? Pretty sure he does. If afib originates from the LAA then it could be of some benefit????by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Jackie! Confessing that i've used a simple carbon matt i purchased from an electronics supplier a year or so ago. The type used for earthing oneself when working on electronic circuit boards. Figured that it can't hurt. I have a basic understanding of chemistry and physics so i take what is said in the links on board without having the expertise to be critical one way or thby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm confused. Why would you have an intervention like Watchman when your afib is fixed???by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Found this an interesting observation: Heart Rate Variability and Atrial Fibrillation Hans R. Researchers at the Midwest Research Institute in Kansas City have found that changes in HRV may occur when exposure to electromagnetiby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Newton's inverse square law applies. I have no idea if perhaps certain frequencies resonate with something in our make up or not. It is probably a good idea to apply the precautionary principle with some of the electronic equipment, i. e. don't hold a cell phone to your ear for extended periods. It certainly can be shown that there is a warming effect and perhaps worse? Devra Davis haby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Jackie! It ticks:'first do no harm'. As he says in the book: 'Like any new idea in the medical world, Earthing needs to be care fully scrutinized and tested objectively without bias' Agree with Gordon but maybe for different reasons. How much money are they going to make from patients going barefoot? Whereas the drug and burn lot....... Not clear that blooby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM

Your recommendations re Eliquis dosing is what my Cardiologist said as well when i told him that i take 5mg only evenings (have for the last year or so). While the 1/2 life is 12 hours i would have 2.5mg left reducing after that. At the next intake i would have 1.25mg + 5mg etc. My CHADS is 1.5 to 2. I consider the argument put forward rather than the person. E.g. i received dodgy advise from the cardiologist(s). Two years ago he told me that cardioversion wouldn't work with me. Well the first one only worked for one hour. The second one he reluctantly agreed to has held so far. His sole advise was to take the poison (his words) he prescribed and have enough sleep as well as a goodby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Suspect there is no money in investigating/trail of supplements and/or food for anti clotting efficacy? Reminds me of what my niece, a theater nurse told us the other week:'The operated on a male and all seemed OK. When she was about to drive home she received an urgent message to return. The patient was hemorrhaging and it took from early evening to 3AM to stabilize him - he almost diedby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
