I was experiencing afib episodes once a year. That all changed Fall of 2022 when suddenly they were occurring more frequently. If I wasn't in afib there were times when I was experiencing frequent PAC. I feel every irregular beat so if it was afib or PAC I was uncomfortable and stressed. I saw the EP and he spent over an hour with me. He gave me all my options and recommended the ablation baby JakeS - AFIBBERS FORUM
Incidentally, found that Apple watch also has a utility to "Track one's AFb history and log triggers". Yes. Once the watch "learns" that you have afib it tracks your episodes if you wore the watch. Your IPhone will ping you once a week and tell you the percentage you had afib and provide you w a graph. Mine pings me every Monday morning.by JakeS - AFIBBERS FORUM

Same as others posted. I was on Sotalol for 5.5 years. During that time my afib episodes were limited to one per year. One year I had two episodes. After the 5 years I started to have increasing episodes. Once I had the ablation I was taken off. Only side effect I noticed was fatigue. However, the fatigue was not so bad that it kept me from doing things.by JakeS - AFIBBERS FORUM
The HRV time periods can be found on your iPhone. Open health. Go to summary. Heart rate variability. Scroll down. Open show all data. You will see a daily list and the HRV for the day. Open a date. There will be a list of the time the watch took your HRV, how long it took and the result.by JakeS - AFIBBERS FORUM

CT and MRI have the capabilities of performing angiography using venous access as compared to using a catheter and arterial access. In some exams, such as Aortography, CT has replaced the longtime use of performing access via an artery. The CT scan you had did perform the angiogram. Unless there are other component ingredients in the contrast Yes, there are other ingredients in the contrast. It is not pure iodine and believed the other ingredients trigger the mast cells. Decades ago, the contrast used was called ionic also known high osmolarity. They had significantly higher numbers of reactions than the use of the non-ionic or low osmolarity agents used today. I have seen that article before. demonstrates how ophthalmology has been impacted by the x-ray contrast iodine myth. The other issue w contrast is that the reactions patients experience are not true allergic or anaphylactic reactions. Contrast media reactions are one of two types. The first type are called Allergy Like or anaphylactoid (toid = resemble) sometimes also called idiosyncratic. Tby JakeS - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotesusan.d I am allergic to the iodine in the CT contrast. Respectfully an allergy to iodine in x-ray contrast is a misapplied term and is a myth that dates back decades and unfortunately continues to be repeated by medical personnel and the public. The other myth that gets repeated is the correlation that shellfish allergy prevents having the x-ray contrast because that has iodine. It is pby JakeS - AFIBBERS FORUM
is it typical to have to wait for a clearance before getting an MRI? Yes For MRI safety the Watchman is classified as conditional. I believe watchman can be scanned in a magnet up to 1.5T. Many magnets today are 3T. need a few days to check out the info Correct in many facilities the MR safety coordinator becomes involved w reviewing the scan ordered and the manufacturers guidelinesby JakeS - AFIBBERS FORUM
Agree w Carey. The treatment for lead toxicity is chelation. Also you mentioned "some lead." Have you had a BLL (blood lead level) test done? There are guidelines for even having chelation done. It requires a certain lead level esp in kids and in adults they are looking for associated symptoms. Are you symptomatic? And lead poisoning tx. For heartburn have you tried Prilosec? My EP instructed me to start taking it b.i.d. one week pre ablation and four weeks post ablation. Similar to Ken's comments. Went home same day. Regarding the Apple Watch. I may be wrong but I believe HRV and RR interval measure are the same? If I am wrong hope someone can clarify. While heart rate focuses on the average beats per minute, heart rate variability (HRV) measures the specific changes in time (or variability) between successive heart beats. The time between beats is measured in milliseconds (ms) and is called an “R-R intervby JakeS - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sorry one more point. When you activate the exercise for example running it activates a timer, records distance, shows your pulse during the workout, your calorie burn. At the end of the exercise it indicates your low and high BPM as well as the average BPM. It also records the current temp and humidity.by JakeS - AFIBBERS FORUM
The Apple watch records: HRV, Rate, Cardio Recovery, Cardio Fitness, Walking Heart Rate, Resting heart rate, Afib History. Afib history gives a report once a week as a percentage of time you were in afib in the last week. Obviously the percentage is based on the time you wore the watch. I took Sotalol & Diltiazem together for several months and had no issues. Same dosage you are taking. The Diltiazem was changed by the EP to the extended release. I was also told I could use 60mg Diltiazem as a PIP in the event I had afib episode where the rate was high. I only had one episode that I took the 60 mg to bring the rate down below 100 and then eventually converted on my own. Sincby JakeS - AFIBBERS FORUM
For some reason, perhaps understandably with the current science, cardiologists seem to want to 'play along' for at least a while. Agree 100%. My situation. First afib in 2017. Feel bad for both of you going thorough this. For the anxiety, unless there is an underline medical condition, I would recommend he seek counseling, the sooner the better. Radiation dose based on time only would be difficult. As in CT there have been new technologies developed for the fluoroscopic units, which reduces dose. the high radiation level of CTA Radiation dose concern is understandable. A couple of points. The dose for CCTA has been reduced almost 80% over the last 10 years or so. Unfortunately using the ED is an experience I think most patients have to learn on their own. After a few visits and doing some investigating, such as coming here, is when I realized I should ride it out at home rather than the ED.
