No tee from Dr. N. on initial procedure. But definitely be rock solid on taking your NOACs on schedule and without fail. I take mine on the 7s every day.by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
That helps a lot. I'll keep just doing easy rides and not worrying about results for a few more months. Just a lot of LSD.by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Betty - probably best not to google youtube videos of ECVs... just enjoy the propo while you can and waking up in NSR.by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Rich - what percent of pre-ablation fitness do you feel you have now? Thanks.by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had to look it up. Bears will be deterred by about 1 joule. Electric fence info " For example, a energizer that is powerful enough to deliver its charge through 20 acres of fencing will not necessarily also have a joule rating of 0.7-1.0 that is needed to exclude bears."by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
My son's stock response to questions --- "I can't know" It's so cute we don't correct him. (also says the music is too "loudy") We love these times. I know we can't know but it helps to hear other's stories and see you're not alone or being punished for something you did, though I think my former primary should be for his 'standaby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey, Shan, my first event was nearly every trigger at once, caffeine, adrenal supplement, phenterimine, heat, dehydration... ok wham - AF. I addressed every single one of these issues from day one. Is this more an indication of how the heart works to stay in NSR until it hits a tipping point? Reasonable to assume that the long term issues (glycation, fibrosis, genetics) were all present an uby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM

Abby Jordan - this post here might help - (thanks George) PS: Next time try to get a heart from Hans and not Abby.by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Most importantly get on a NOAC to prevent stroke and look for some of the interventions that George N and Steve Carr have posted. I'll try to post a link to a recent thread. You may be able to walk the tightrope and stay out AF but if you can't, - maybe an ablation is warranted. I just had mine 6 weeks ago - still in blanking period so don't know yet how it will turn out butby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shca67 - What is your CAC ? Did you also take PPIs with exo-calcium? Do you still eat any grains or seeds of grass? wheat, rice, etc ? Tested fasting insulin? Assuming born in 67 - you still have time to regress your CAC. I have been doing it for more than a year and have a 19% annual rate reduction. I know several people that achieve up to 50% annual reduction.by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
While at the OTC we were often tested for VO2 max and lactic acid. While some people clear lactate efficiently (Lance Armstrong was noted as a clearer and kept below 6 mmol but it's hard to rely on any Armstrong data as all of it was faked and due to PEDs.) To the point - most cyclists hit AT and LT at around 6mmol of accumulation with a few going to 9ish . Maybe it's bad genetics oby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey - thanks. It looks like cHaOs to me. Rich- hoping to see that switch eventually. Did you take any supplements to nudge it along?by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yeah Ken - I figure my racing days are over - but probably were anyway. Just content with being normal and in NSRby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good story JKAF - there's always hope I guess. My whacked EKG -by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey and Susan -thanks I will get penciled in and on the schedule as if I will get an ablation in Dec - Easy enough for them to cancel and let someone else take my place if I don't need it.by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
My bike rides are ridiculous now. Diltiazem keeps me pegged at about 133 regardless of how hard I go, uphill, downhill, head wind, tail wind... 133 + or 1 a few but mainly 133. My power and speed are also 2/3 of what they were before the ablation but there are some other factors affecting that. I have a meter to check blood lactate and I should see if despite the constant HR to see ifby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been taking Flecainide 2x a day since the multaq didn't do anything for me in the first 2 weeks. It's not discomfort but just lack of NSR that's bothering me. Just hoping to learn from other's experiences in order to relax about the possibility of whether I am 1-and-done or will need a 2nd. For insurance and other reasons, I'll have to pull the triggerby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hoping others could share what are the attributes of a successful (or failed) ablation that occur during the blanking period. I am in week 5 and have been less in NSR then weeks 2 and 3. My activity level, diet and supplements are the same and only a reduction in diltiazem from 180 2x to 1x is the the only difference and that's just in last few days. In weeks 4 and 5 I see less NSRby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Johnny, I sleep about like you except trade sides every 2-3 hours or after nature calls. Sleep is complicated because 4 yr old son comes in most every night by 4 or 5. Last night 11:58. We only have a full size bed. So it's elbow to elbow for everyone and he kicks like mule, so sleep quality suffers. My # 1a requirement for sleep is a cool room 68 or lower but I no longer tolerateby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Susan - as long as you find something that works for you. Does apple alert you with vibration on both O2 and HR ? (lets your partner sleep) For me this is the main feature of the ring. Even if wrong - for instance, reads too low, I can sandbag the alert levels. But so far I see no need to do that. My device appears to be accurate and continues to hold a good charge.by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
DO these exercises to help fix your fat lazy tongue. They've helped me be able to sleep many nights not without a cpap and maintain 93% avg at minimum with less than a few total minutes over 8 hours under 90%by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Some results - I'll update Polar HRM and O2 ring on HR - agree within 2 beats at 100 bpm (101 and 99) O2 Ring and fingertip O2 sensor - agree within 1% or same - varies Polar and fingertip sensor - cheap sensor off by 40-50% (maybe because afib isn't read well??) I'll test on wife later. To Johnny's credit some Amazon reviews mention accuracy in 1 star reviewsby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
My device seems to be accurate when I test it against Polar products, and other O2 devices. The only exception is that the Wellue ring doesn't work when I ride the bike because my hands on the bars bend my fingers to have no contact with the ring. I'll do some double checking today but I never had any doubt about the device or accuracy. I can run 4 devices at the same time to seeby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
This device only does every 4 seconds. I have a Polar model that does every sec but also requires a chest strap. But even back in 2008 I had the same pattern so maybe my AF was long overdue. I am going to check an old computer and see if any of those are stored. Cool Carey - I hope you're right but I won't get to argue the point if I was. LOLby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I originally bought the item after my 3yr old son (at that time) mocked me one morning and made apnea like sleeping sounds "here's daddy sleeping" - I was horrified and bewildered how wife got used to it over the year. Love is not only blind but DEAF. Device proved to me in just a few nights that I needed a CPAP - after getting one device confirmed CPAP was beneficial.by NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I normally use the monitor to wake me up if cpap falls off or if not using a cpap to alert me to use it. Some nights I don't need it and avg 93-95 w/o. In the confusion early sunday AM, I couldn't understand why it kept alerting while cpap was on and I kept taking deep breathes and exhales to stop the vibration. Only when I saw the data did I see the 30s hr and steady decliningby NotLyingAboutMyAfib - AFIBBERS FORUM

I have this device I wear on my ring finger that tracks O2 and HR. It can be set to vibrate on upper and lower HR ranges as well as lower O2 alert. I have mine set at 88% for O2 and 50 lower and 130 upper for HR. The device is very accurate when I've compared it against other devices that also perform those functions.
