Tom,

As I recall, it has some adrenergic stimulating properties. Being vagal, I thought about using those properties to change the ANS balance an ward off an episode. My plan was to create hardware/software monitoring system looking for changes in the ANS that would forecast a vagal episode. It would wake me & I would then ingest viagra to shift the ANS balance toward the adrenergic side & avoid an episode - at least that was my theory. My EP and primary care doc approved the plan.

I started down the hardware/software development path, but was simultaneously, working on a supplement solution to the afib problem. The supplement program worked before I'd done a lot of work on the other path, so shelved the whole idea. I'm glad it worked out this way, too. The supplements are a lot simpler than being wired up all the time. It is a measure of my extremely high motivation to solve the problem.

I think so - for a vagal afibber. I'd be careful if adrenergic or mixed.

From:[www.pfizer.com]

"Be sure to tell your doctor if you: have ever had any heart problems (e.g., angina, chest pain, heart failure, irregular heart beats, heart attack or narrowing of the aortic valve)"

"Heart attack, stroke, irregular heart beats, and death have been reported rarely in men taking VIAGRA. Most, but not all, of these men had heart problems before taking this medicine. It is not possible to determine whether these events were directly related to VIAGRA."

Here <[www.afibbers.com];

I said, "One thought, which was even approved by my EP, was to injest Viagra or Cialis at this time, because of their adrenergic stimulating properties. "

A quick Google search did not bring up what I'd been looking at then. I'd be careful. Remember - sildenafil citrate was a heart medicine with the interesting side effect of helping erections before it was marketed for that use.

I'm no expert - I'd do further research if I were you. By the way, I never actually took any, so have no first hand experience.

Mark,

You are correct - great memory! However it was Cialis (similar to Viagra) that Gunnar used.

Tom,

You can search the 5th and 6th (maybe 7th) archived boards for Gunnar as author and cialis for more info.

Here is an example post: <[www.afibbers.org];

See Cialis info here: [pi.lilly.com]

I'm mostly vagal. I take flec and atenolol. I take 50mg of V occassionally, with no side effects. never correlated the viagra with an a-fib episode; seem totally unrelated.
My neurologist and EP okayed the viagra before I tried it.
