Waller Water causing leg cramps?

Greetings Forum,

Firstly, Happy Anniversary Jackie, and thank you so much for all your help and support.

On Jackie's advice I've been supplementing my Mag. Oxide with Australia's version of Waller Water - "Unique Water". I've found though after around three weeks of this regimen that my leg muscles have been cramping up at night in bed. Last night it was really bad - major agony. I've also been experiencing "restless legs", and involuntary single jerks of limbs while sleeping, which wakes both myself and my partner. I've been drinking around half a liter a day of the Unique Water. My only other supplement has been 90mg/day Pot. Gluconate. I've not had loose bowels with the half liter Unique Water, so I assume I'm not taking too much. How should I fine tune this?

Blessings, Michael

Hi Michael,

From the Unique water patent application:

"The mixture contains approximately 120 mg magnesium per liter of aqueous neutral to mildly alkaline metal bicarbonate solution, 135 mg sodium per liter of aqueous neutral to mildly alkaline metal bicarbonate solution and 950 mg bicarbonate per liter of aqueous neutral to mildly alkaline metal bicarbonate solution."

So you'd be getting 60 mg magnesium in your half liter plus 475 mg bicarbonate.

If anything, I'd say you're getting too little magnesium.

I'd suggest getting some epsom salt (Magnesium Sulphate), which is readily available. In addition to bathing with it, here are some suggestions for topical (transdermal) application: <[www.enzymestuff.com];. I suggested this route to a friend with bad cramping and it worked immediately. In addition, 99 mg of potassium may not be enough. In my friend's case, once she got enough oral magnesium, she no longer needed the topical, except in cases of extreme activity.

Hi Michael and Thank You. I agree with George...probably you are still low in magnesium. However, if you weren't getting the leg cramps before the WW, then you could experiment and stop the water and see if the cramps diminish completely.

Typically, though, leg cramps or Restless Leg Syndrome are common symptoms of low magnesium. I suggested the WW to augment your oxide form of magnesium because you get so little benefit from the oxide version and thought adding the ionized form would be a quick way to help increase your intracellular stores. You can certainly experiment by drinking more of the WW... but as George points out... another highly efficient way of delivery the magnesium is the topical through bathing or even foot baths.

And the 90 mg of potassium is a tiny amount. You may want to consider increasing that as well.

Michael - I am very interested in the outcome of this - will you let us know what you figure out? Thanks!
