Just a quick question on sotalol and QTC. About 2 years ago (prior to my mitral valve surgery) I was prescribed Sotalol while I was in the hospital. They took several EKG's within 2 days and everything checked out so they released me. I know they look at prolonged QT. Unfortunately, after 7 months of NSR, I am back in an Arrhythmia. I had a meeting with my EP and he prescribed Sotalol but said that I would need to get an outside EKG 2 days. I told him I was on Sotalol (at a different hospital) 2 years ago as I don't think he realized that as it wasn't prescribed by him or at the hospital he is.
When I mentioned that, he didn't say anything about the EKG. Just a couple of quick questions before I start the Sotalol. Are there any home EKG's like Kardia that will reflect QT/QTc? And if so, are they sufficient or should I get an EKG with a 12-lead locally? Also, since I was on Sotalol 2 years ago, prior to my mitral valve surgery, would anything possibly change to make it necessary to get an EKG now?
