Colonoscopy Prep
February 11, 2025 03:10AM
I'm am due for another colonoscopy and have a GI appt in morning to discuss prep options. 10 years ago I did miralax and a bunch of fluid. I am on a bit of a fluid restriction (doc said it would be OK) but too much fluid also can give me weird beats. which I can handle as long as they don't stay. A friend used Clenpiq but I noticed that people with long QT and other arrhythmias are not recommended for that. What have ya''ll used for prep?

From years ago, GoLytely was suggested as a bowel prep that spares electrolytes. I used it ~15 years ago without issue, But more recently talked them in to letting me use a bunch of magnesium citrate. That worked as well.

Did you just get your own magnesium citrate or get those ittle bottles of it? Does that spare electrolytes? That is one I was going to ask him about. Also did you do any replenishing of electrolytes? I'm not a 'gatorade" person with the artificial stuff and sugar in it but I was reading that Smart Water is just for taste. Curious if you supplemented your water with additional electrolytes as well.

The citriate might have been bottles, it has been 5 years or so, hence I don't recall. I always make my own from powders, if possible.
