Dilitiazem shortage?

Just curious if anyone else is having issues getting diltiazem? The last couple of times I had delays on getting the prescription filled because it was out of stock. This is the third pharmacy that has told me they are out of it in the past two months.

I am not aware of any shortage. From my experience, my pharmacy sends me a text indicating the filling of the Rx. is in process, the med was ordered, and they will notify me when ready to pickup, which is usually the next day or on a rare occasion the two days after. This almost always the case for a refill and I have always have it w/o running out. In fact recently I needed to fill it early because I was going to be away and did not have a problem getting it, but again they did order it and was ready before I left. For whatever reason it never seems to be in stock.

I just called Walgreens for my diltiazem XR refill and asked if they had heard anything about a shortage for this medication. The tech said he had not heard about that but would not be surprised because they have a low supply on their shelves. That response does not confirm much, but I just wanted to share it. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Ok Not sure, but I had a minor delay in May (a day or so), June it was a 3 or 4 day delay, July was over a week, and this month I transferred my prescription to my mail pharmacy (Express Scripts) and it is on hold until they can get it. This time it might just be because it is a new script. Hopefully it is just a few days delay. I was just curious because I haven't had any problems until recently.

Normally the pharmacy can fill a refill 5 days early. I stockpile by getting it refilled 5 days beforehand and after a period you will accumulated enough in case the pharmacy doesn’t have it in stock.

I usually have a small stash myself, but the past few months this has become something odd I have noticed. I actually transferred the script to the online pharmacy because they usually have a better stock. When I checked this afternoon, they were out of Diltiazem CD 120mg and 240 mg, as well as Diltiazem ER 120 mg and Carvedilol. Just odd to me because it just started happening a few months ago.
