100% AFIB ALL the time! Ugh!!

100% AFIB ALL the time! Ugh!!
June 28, 2023 12:55AM
I’ve been diagnosed with AFB for a year and am experiencing AFIB 100% of the time. I had a cardio conversion that lasted 2 days before going back into AFIB. My doctor doesn’t have a plan for me. Is this normal? What should I be doing to help myself? My quality of life has totally deteriorated. I never have any energy for anything. I’m gaining weight from not being active and my insulin numbers are climbing. Please help.

You will hear a lot more from others here, but in a nutshell: Find another doctor, specifically an EP (Electrophysiologist.)

Your doctor has done nothing, not even referred you to an EP? No, that's not normal. You need to find one yourself ASAP.

Fire your MD and/or cardiologist before they kill you with their negligence.

Your post is a horror story.

"I had a cardio conversion that lasted 2 days before going back into AFIB"

Your Dr. ordered this? Is so, he did do something. But yes, time to move on to a specialist.

Are you on any meds? Anti-Coagulants? How fast is your normal HR while in this AFIB?

You need to see an electrophysiologist (ep) who will develop a treatment plan based on your case. Ideally, you will find one who works at a high cardiac rated, large teaching hospital. Many are still doing video consults these days, if you don't live near one.

I agree with all the comments, but you might also want to read extensively on this forum's informational areas, especially in regards to lifestyle and electrolytes. I'm about to post my experience with a few bouts of tachycardia and how the first was helped with a cardioversion, but it returned last night with a similar high rate of 167. It was dramatically turned around / restored to NSR with some timed ingestions of magnesium glycinate and lastly some mag orotate. Granted I also now take Multaq and was advised to add 25 mg of my PRN Beta Blocker, but my feeling is that the magnesium did the trick.

Thank you so much! This is helpful. I’ll be demanding an EP asap.

I’m on sotalol and pradaxa. Without the meds my heart starts shooting up to the 200s when I stand and start walking. Thank you for the advice, it’s truly appreciated.
