Protein biomarkers, such as NT-proBNP (N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide),9,10,12–14 CRP (C-reactive protein),9 fibroblast growth factor-23,14 and high-sensitivity troponin I15 have been reported to be associated with AF and to improve risk prediction.

Cliff notes:
NT-proBNP: N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide
N-ANP: N-terminal proatrial natriuretic peptide
CRP: C-reactive protein
MI: myocardial infarction
