OPTIMA Trial
John Hopkins University

Interesting article above... Thoughts?

Preprocedure mapping of arrhythmia using MRI.
Using computer algorithms to determine which areas to ablate before the procedure.
Testing with the computer that selected areas will achieve desired outcome.
Finally, having the ablation using the computer generated targets.

Isn't what Dr. N does more precise? If I understand correctly he forces afib to happen in real time and then addresses it during the procedure. Is there a name for this compared to run of the mill ablations.

If I have to have an ablation I want it to be one and done.

It's just called mapping. Natale isn't unique in that regard. All well-trained EPs with sufficient experience do the same; it's just that most probably don't do it as well as Natale and a handful of other top EPs.

I thought mapping was the usual method. I've made a post about my last ablation here. Don't they all do that ?
