Previous details can be found on my other two "Anniversary" posts below.
Starting Oct. 11: 10 days in afib, and self converted before cardioversion (started Eliquis 2 days before scheduled CV). 14 days in normal rhythm, then back in afib for 10 more days. I converted this morning (heart rate - 66 bpm) and cancelled a 10:00 am cardioversion.
I was in Dallas for part of my last episode and got in to see my 2013 ablation Dr. - Kevin Wheelan. I now live in Raleigh. After a long detailed conversation including his thoughts about Dr. Natalie, I am scheduled for my second ablation on Jan. 6. He put me on Flecainide, which smoothed out the afib, so no Toprol needed. Still on Eliquis.
I am ready for this saga to be concluded. Since I am recovering from a hip replacement, my physical activity has been curtailed other than walking, so the afib has not been a big irritant. I can pretty much ignore it by taking either Toprol or Flecainide. They keep the "cage from rattling" too much, which makes it easier to sleep (I am very symptomatic) . Also, regarding Eliquis - Zero issues. I feel no different taking it or not taking it.
Shannon jumped in with some personal input which helped tremendously with my meeting with Dr. Wheelan. I very much appreciate his knowledge regarding the expertise needed for "second ablations" compared to "touch up ablations".
