Hi,

When is the best time to test my potassium level using horiba.
I find I am getting different readings first thing in the morming and mid morning.
First thing the results are high 5.1mmol/L and mid morning 4.4mmol/L.
Should I brush my teeth before hand?

I thought my tester was faulty (C-131) so I purchased the newer tester B-731 and find they're much the same, the B-731 being easier to use.

Colin,

Though I brought these to the forums attention years ago, I've never gotten one. I certainly would not test near in time to putting anything in my mouth (food, toothpaste or even water), to get the best sample.

Pat Chambers' Diurnal Rhythm of Potassium <[www.afibbers.org], might be of interest. If you have "risk" times for going into afib, I'd sample around those times to see what is happening.

Cheers,

George
