Stroke Risk v healthy AFIB 80-year-old versus average 80 Y.O

Gentlefolk,

I have been asked this question by my younger and older children as well as my partner and ex-partner.

I can find references to AFIB in the Framingham study, the different CHADS and there may be others which would be interesting to know.

What I can't find is something of a more recent kind that says the general average of age-matched 80-year-olds without AFIB have a stroke risk of .....????

Can anyone point me in the right direction or directions?

Thanks

Alex

Thanks Jackie,

On the newer CHADS2 VASC my annual risk before anticoagulants is 2.2 % so lets say 1.1% after Eliquis.

I did a rough calculation ,no adjustment for stroke times.

Yesterday I flew around Melbourne for 35 mins, Around 1 300 th of a week So annually I in 15,000.

At 1.1 % risk that makes that particular flight risk I in 1.3 million.

My under 30 year old passengers found that risk acceptable.
