Recommendation for Sleep Study Lab in San Francisco Bay Area
May 29, 2015 07:28PM
Hi,

Can someone please recommend a sleep study lab in the San Francisco Bay Area. I would like to be tested for Sleep Apnea. I had an appointment at Stanford, which I'm sure is well-qualified, but they have a long wait time to have a study.

Unfortunately, UCSF is not in my health plan.

I did find the following that were in my plan but I'm not sure if they are qualified.

Sleepquest (http://www.sleepquest.com/) Bay Sleep Clinic (http://www.baysleepclinic.com/) San Francisco Sleep Diagnostics (http://www.sfsleep.com/)

Thanks

Stanford was the original research center for sleep disorders so I would stick with them if possible.

Absolutely, Stanford is the best, with a bevy of well-qualified sleep docs, and well worth waiting for.

Hi All,

I've gone ahead and had my sleep study at Stanford. I can report that it all went well. I don't have the results as that takes some time to receive. The center seemed well-run and very professional. You arrive around 7 after dinner and they wire you up. I think I had 33 wires attached to my body. Once that is done you go to sleep or at least do your best to try to. The room looks like a basic hotel room and includes a shower and tv. You are watched via CC tv by their staff and can buzz if you need anything, such as waking up to use the bathroom. They need to unwire you for that but it is relatively easy. I had a hard time sleeping. Took about 3 hours. I was told not to worry that that is fairly common and they can use the data from the remaining 4-5 hours that I did sleep.

All the best,
Q
