John - thanks.. we all need to become knowledgeable regarding the drugs we may be offered for afib. Hans has covered them very well in his book. I imagine one can do a Google search and find all of the side effects. However, if the pharmaceuticals do not disclose ALL of the potential side effects, we are at their mercy.
One thing we all know, or should know, is that all drugs have side effects. It is a trade off; fix one condition, take more drugs to correct the side effects. The best thing anyone can do is to stay away from drugs.
Since many of us have no choice, however, we need to really be aware of the potential side effects and pay attention to symptoms we may be experiencing. Call attention to the doctor. The lucky afibbers who have been able to either wean off afib drugs or only used them "on-demand" at at far less risk than those who take them on a daily basis.
WRT the patient who went blind because of undisclosed side effects - I'm curious if the article went on to say what the FDA is doing about
Amiodorone...is it still out there to be used by unsuspecting victims?
Thanks for posting this caveat. Jackie
