taking Eliquis & Curcumin daily
November 10, 2025 10:23PM
Hi,

I am wondering about some feedback about taking Curcumin 500 mg & Eliquis 2.5 mg BID. If I remember correctly, I think my cardiologist said turmeric was fine to take with my Eliquis, but he is from Ecuador & I am thinking maybe there they eat a lot of turmeric & maybe that is what he was thinking I do. There is a curcumin that has turmeric extract, Curcuma longa 95% of total curcuminoids and google search implies since it can slow down blood clotting, it might not be safe to take with Eliquis.

I would like to take it for a variety of reasons, but do not know if this is safe. I am pretty sure I took it before while on Eliquis, but I can't totally trust my memory on this.

My BP has been increasing while going off the prednisone (I always have the opposite reaction of what is supposed to happen - most ppl get high BP when taking high doses of prednisone (40 mg, 20, etc.), but not me, mine went down in a good way), & now that I am almost off of it with the lowest taper my BP is above where it should be.

I thought if I take my curcumin again, maybe that would help in transitioning off the anti-inflammatory prednisone & help my BP get back to good levels. But is this safe or not?

I asked my local EP and also my internist and both said it was fine to take them together—particularly as we are taking a half dose of Eliquis. I take both daily and have not noticed any increased bruising or bleeding. Good luck.

Yeah, I thought I had taken it w/my Eliquis before & I don't remember problems. But, I did have problems with prednisone & Eliquis though it is not advertised to be a problem like that. Things can be different than what is commonly stated with everything to a degree. Of course I will watch out for any symptoms.

I hope it can help bring my BP back down like before all the prednisone therapy changes. My adrenals will be adjusting for a while since I will be totally off of it in a couple weeks. I am thinking since prednisone is an anti-inflammatory that likewise curcumin will help bring it back down too. I did not have the weight gain that ppl talk about with prednisone either, so not all things claimed are so for all of us. LIke I said prednisone is said to increase ppl's BP & mine went lower when prednisone dose was high. When prednisone dose went low (now 2.5, was 40, 20, 10, 5, 2.5 & only at 2.5 has my BP started to rise too much. Ironic.
