covid vax?

I have been getting the covid jab every year, just wondering if everyone thinks its a good idea to get it this year?

I just got booster #9 and for the first time in my entire life I got chills and the shakes from a vaccine later that evening. Mind you, I got the annual flu shot at the same time, something I have been doing since my days in the Canadian Army. Which one set me off...I wonder. Anyway, the latest information I have is that it's dangerous...or it's nothing of the sort. Take yer pick. I don't seem to have suffered from my previous eight COVID injections.

Meanwhile, I just read an article saying that COVID is the single most deadly and economically devastating thing so far in the 21st Century due to its mutating nature, how it attacks and co-opts the immune response, and how it keeps people off the job unlike any other virus....so far. Then there is the indisputable 'long COVID' syndrome and how life-altering it can be for those who never do shake the virus.

I intend to keep taking it. I'm six months into my 74th year.

My electrophysiologist advised me not to get any more boosters as he had seen cardiac implications that concerned him. After my last booster, I did have an exacerbation of arrhythmias. So it seems to depend on who you ask.

This is worrisome to me. They pulled Vioxx off the market 21 years ago, a wonder drug that gave my secretary her body back. The problem was that it caused some heart problems in a few patients. Okay, it might have stood more testing or a more modest usage, at least at first, to see how people were doing on it. We do that for amiodarone. We don't seem to want to do it for the COVID vaccines, and we see many young men getting heart inflammation quite clearly attributable to the vaccine, and not to another infection of some kind that took place days after the vaccination.

It's not that people didn't want to investigate it. They did and they were. But the premier investigating agency in the US has fired all its scientists, defunded research, and is now led by a rabid antivaxxer with zero medical training and a worm-eaten brain.

What I know of the cardiomyopathy issue with the COVID vaccine is it primarily affects young, healthy, and often athletic males. It might be the case that simply excluding that group from the vaccine recommendation is all that's needed. After all, they're at low risk to begin with. The main thing for us (this forum, mostly over 50/60) is that the cardiomyopathy is rare and the disease is far more dangerous. I think if you're over 60-ish that COVID is a far greater danger than the vaccine. There are always going to be exceptions, like Daisy, but unless your doctor says you're one of those, then avoiding the vaccine is probably the wrong risk/benefit choice.

It's not as if COVID is untreatable but agree it can be a positive risk/benefit for old people. Certainly, wouldn't take it under 60 and generally healthy.
By this stage the majority of us have been exposed to the virus so would have a degree of natural immunity against several or many proteins of the Covid virus rather than a selected few of a vaccine - that's no doubt better than getting a substance injected that was designed for a old (one or several mutations ago) mutation.
I got a safety data sheet from the makers of the lipid nanoparticles, and it clearly says that it's experimental and not for humans. Admittedly that info i got in 2021 and may be out of date by now.
Anyhow, the good thing is that it is no longer compulsory - thank God!

10 doses of Covid vaccines / boosters in 4 1/2 years seems overly excessive and I can’t think of any other preventative vaccine, booster or annualized “shot” that requires or needs such frequency. Throw in exemption from liabilities of the pharmaceutical companies from any harm done should not have been allowed and those that allowed it were greatly mistaken in their grossly reckless, negligent and extremely flawed decision.

The rationale is that the virus is changing constantly, and not in a great way. Each vaccine is modified to account for the most recent strain, although it's about three to six months after the latest determination. Additionally, the science so far says that the vaccine loses its efficacy after about three months or a bit more, so getting a booster every six months, which is the policy in British Columbia, sounds prudent. It'd also highly salutary for the investors of the corporations contracted to supply the vaccine.

Sticking to the actual data -- of which there is a huge amount -- the COVID vaccines are remarkably safe. There's simply no way around that no matter what anyone tells you. And the COVID disease is remarkably dangerous, particularly for those past middle age and those with comorbidities. And that's not even to mention long COVID, which actually scares me more than acute COVID does.

I’d have to go back and look at my original tests when my numbers were still extremely high And they marked me as a candidate to do something for the blood donation aspect for other patients, this was a couple of years ago so like I said I’d have to refresh on the details as I’ve been focused on other issues. It was much longer than the average person!!!

Daisy, we may be talking about the same electrophysiologist. I ask every year to see if the opinion on getting the COVID vaccine has changed and the answer is always what you stated you were told. I have not been getting it because of that. Paxlovid is what I am being told to use if I get Covid.

As I posted here, it took 8 months post vax before I could quit taking a minimum dose of flec daily to avoid afib. Last night, on a call with a functional doc who is a cardiologist and cardiothorasic surgeon, he mentioned the spike protein that the vax gets the body to make will hang around for 6 months (perhaps I could have quit the flec a bit earlier, wasn't testing that theory weekly).

A few years back my GP recommended that i get an mRNA booster, so i asked for a Covid nuclear capsid antibodies check. He said that they don't do that (not surprising because that's what their workshop manual and bossed dictate, don't think he wanted to lose his job)
Went to another GP and he told me much the same showing me email directives he gets. Eventually he agreed and got the test which showed i had these antibodies. Consequently, i thought a booster superfluous and not worth the risk of myocarditis and/or pericarditis on top of my paroxysmal afib (which was known to be a risk then but massively downplayed)
Even Paul Offit (a member of the then FDA advisory committee) recommended that his son did not get the 3rd booster as mandated by his university (talking about group think)
Sure, i'm close to 76 and had Covid at least twice, it's airborne, and probably get it again. In my case, one infection made me quite ill for two days (no energy and mostly bed resting) but the other one and perhaps another one was more like a walk in the park.

Different bodies perhaps require different strategies, and we differ in risk benefit assessment.

I had a booster at the beginning of September, arrhythmias got much more frequent, ablation in November, no arrhythmias since.

Daisy, your experience is exactly what I want to avoid! I also want to avoid getting COVIID! What difficult decisions to make. After 2 failed ablations, I finally found an EP who knew how to handle my case and I am now AFIB free for 3 years. I do not want to jeopardize that!
