Borderline ECG meaning
February 17, 2025 01:18AM
Does this warrant a portal message to my EP? I saw his NP last week and she didn’t mention anything was wrong.

My non-medical opinion is it looks fine. However, I'd take it down and take your name & DOB off.

Edit - see my post here for the ECG.

If you have a physical copy, you could black out the information and take a photo and post that.

I don’t have a paper copy. I tried a screenshot but it was the wrong file type. I can go to the download and when I tap edit a white border covers my name and I can’t black it out. Now I want to delete the post since it no longer make sense! Is there a way?

I've sent a PM to you with my email address. If you want, send me the image and I'll fix it and post here in this thread for you.

Oops I should have read this first! I thought I could click delete from your PM and it would delete the post. Nope. Send it again if you don’t mind.

What is it about this ECG that concerns you? I see only normal sinus rhythm.

The term borderline ECG on it

What it says before that is "Borderline T abnormalities anterior leads... T flat or neg. V2-V4." But most importantly, what it says before that is "Low voltage precordial leads." In other words, the ECG is seeing low voltage in the chest leads, which means the electrodes may not be placed well. Poor connections could easily produce the flat T waves the machine sees, so it's likely just artifact.

The bottom line is ignore the diagnostic "suggestions" ECGs produce. Trust me, your doctor does. Every ECG I've ever had in my life says "prior inferior infarct" along with 2-3 other scary sounding things that I simply do not have and never did. My favorite is "*** ACUTE MI ***". And every single one says "ABNORMAL ECG." And yet not a single doctor or nurse has ever commented on them, and that's because they know that ECG machines throw out every single thing it sees so much as a hint of. The trouble is, the machine doesn't know anything about you other than your age and gender. It doesn't know if you're sitting comfortably on your couch watching TV or you're in the ER in extreme distress.

Show it to your doc if you want, but I'm pretty sure you'll hear the same or similar explanation.

I just crop the top off under photo “edit” to remove my info. With my iPhone I only use my first name and leave blank my DOB. Kardia I print up, black out my personal info and rescan.

I did that but couldn’t attach the file directly from my photos. Thanks.
