Reading my Kardia
August 01, 2024 10:56PM
Hi, all!
I decided it's probably time to learn more about my ECG readings on my Kardia, so I've been watching YouTube videos.
I'm attaching two 'readings/strips"? from last night. One is NSR and the other is Sinus Rhythm with Supraventricular Ectopy.

Oddly enough, not sure if anything is related or if it's all related, I went to bed with a nice normal HR but hours later nearbouts 3:30 am, I got up to use the bathroom, went back to bed, and my heart tripped into tachycardia-- steady but fast rate at under 110 bpm. I tried all the stuff we all try to get things back to normal, but ended up having to take metoprolol tartrate around 5a.m. which did the trick by 9:30 am.

I know just enough to confuse myself. On Lead 1, for both of the attachments, where is my QRS stuff?? I must be missing something. Thanks in advance for a gentle redirect (y'all are so kind about that!! thumbs up)
Sue

Your QRSs are all the tall spikes, up or down. You have a P-wave bimp (not a distinct spike, not a blip, not a bump, but a bimp, barely a nudge...?), but others might beg to differ.

In Lead 1, you have varying R/R intervals, meaning the distance between the tall spikes varies by a few more m/sec than is normal in variation. So, the degree of variation, but also how irregularly those intervals vary, suggests atrial fibrillation.

I'm guessing for first image PAC, Normal, PAC, Normal, & the rest are normal. For you, might have more info to just have the Kardia do Lead I and then put the whole strip on the page, rather than the other leads, which, for a layperson, are likely just confusing. For second image, looks like PAC's followed by compensatory beats.

I agree. For most people I want to see a longer recording of lead I (II would be even better). The other leads are rarely all that useful with afib. A full 30-second recording of lead I or II is most useful IMO.

Thanks for the input! Bottom line is... should I be worried?? This stuff still scares me.
I'll have to try and post a longer reading tomorrow. I'm working with old tech and it'll take me a bit.

No, you don't need to be worried. Just get a nice, clean, 30-second recording on lead I. "Clean" means you're sitting, relaxed, not moving around, with the Kardia on a flat surface in front of you, and no electronics like laptops and such right next to you.

Perhaps after taking a reading, click on your history and find the reading and click it. Download PDF option and then post it.
