I am at the top end of the reference range in CoQ10 .What are the special benefits of Mito Q in a practical way ? I wasn't smart enough to work it out in a clear way from the websites .

Thanks Alex

Did you read this comparison between CoQ10 and MitoQ

Sounds interesting......where have you found the best/cheapest place to get it?

This is the only supplier.

BTW. I don't have any financial interest or connection with this company other than purchasing their product.
I have been taking MitoQ for three months and in that time have had one afib event, (I would normally have 1 a month) of course I can't be sure it's due to MitoQ, but may be more so after six months.

Have you noticed any other improvements that you attribute to this specific formula?

Yes, but it's bit hard to describe. It's like a sharpness in my thinking, an awareness, a brightness and more energy.

Hello Colindo,

Yes I did read the 847 times and I'd be interested to know how they measured it [by the way I'm not saying it is not a good product].

Whenever I see these huge impossible to prove numerical improvements I get dubious. I recently got an unsolicited email from a company offering me some supplements that would give me 300% more sex. My first thought was how on earth did they measure it? The second thought was how it I cope so I didn't purchase.

If a person is like me at the top end of the reference range in CoQ10 what improvement can I expect?

Last week at the gym I had just had some glutamine and a pretty girl I know said Alex you are looking well and you look much younger than your age.

I immediately felt more cheerful, stronger and smiled more.

Do I atttribute this to the glutamine?

Good question Alex,
I have sent them an email asking them how they arrived at their claim, MitoQ being 847 times more effective than CoQ10.
I will post their reply.

Thanks Colin - I'm interested in that as well.

Looking into my crystal ball I predict no reply or an incomprehensible one .

I hope to be wrong !

Below is the reply I received from MitoQ.
I also asked if MitoQ actually replace the CoQ10 that statins deplete?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Colin,

Thank you for contacting MitoQ.

The 847 claim is an average. We have a number of papers that capture the number ranging from 800 to 1200 times the effectiveness of CoQ10 in terms of targeting the mitochondria.

The paper below gives you a good overview of MitoQ.

ttps://
www.mitoq.com/skin/frontend/first/mitoq/pdf/Animal-and-human-studies-with-MitoQ.pdf
(hi-light the above link and paste into browser)

MitoQ will replace CoQ10 in the mitochondria but there may be still some depletion of cellular CoQ10.

The most important CoQ10 to replace is the mitochondrial CoQ10 and for that reason MitoQ is a very good supplement for people taking Statins.

If you need any further information please let me know.

I appreciate they gave a prompt reply but I'm tried to work out what it means.

Maybe some more knowledgeable persons such as Jackie can comprehend it better than me.

As far as I can work out is largely experimental on mice and I can't work out what it does to the CoQ10.

I haven't got any liver damage that I know of.

I look forward to a wiser person's comments

Colin.... I'll look at it.

Alex,

The way I understand it in simple terms is the MitoQ is positively charged and the CoQ10 is not. Therefore making the MitoQ attracted to the negatively charged mitochondria, where it is needed.
The CoQ10 has no attracion to the mitochondria or very little, and is almost a wast of time taking it.

Colin,

it needs to explained clearly why it is so important ,not just stated.

Are all other coq 10 users wasting their money ?

Today I was sent this offer.352% more youth hormone with 15 minutes exercise.

Some people must believe it.

Alex,

" Are all other coq 10 users wasting their money ? "

I think they maybe.
A lot of what I read is some what indefinite, see below link. For example it says "some people find etc" and " Some researchers believe that CoQ10 may help " and " Some studies suggest that coenzyme Q10"
It all a bit airy-fairy.

Colin,

One of our major melbourne teaching hospitals strongly recommends it , my cardiologist, also a host of others internationally etc .

At some point you decide to do something especially if no good evidence of harm.

Maybe the Melbourne hospitals and their cardiologist are correct to recommend it, but elsewhere there is debate as to the benefits of CoQ10.

See this reply from Mayo Clinic.

Though CoQ10 has been used with the pretense of treating many ailments, many of these applications remain controversial. Supplements can simply be taken for a CoenzymeQ10 deficiency -- although even that treatment is debatable. Currently, the Mayo Clinic is undecided if it is truly helpful to take supplements for "low CoQ10" [source: Mayo Clinic].

Also read this.

Q. What have recent research studies found about CoQ10?
Most of the purported CoQ10 benefits have been observed in research studies, but have not been scientifically proven.

For example, the American Heart Association does not recommend the use of CoQ10 to prevent heart disease, citing a lack of solid evidence.
Some studies have found that levels of CoQ10 tend to be lower in people with high cholesterol levels, and other studies have found that CoQ10 can reduce inflammation and promote heart function, but subsequent research has not amply supported these findings.
The same is true of coenzyme Q10’s health benefits regarding cancer treatment and prevention. Clinical trials have shown that CoQ10 supplements can be effective in preventing heart damage caused by the cancer drug Adriamycin (doxorubicin). Small studies found that breast cancer tumors shrank in women who took the supplement. But the American Cancer Society does not recommend its use, particularly given evidence that CoQ10 use could reduce the effectiveness of some chemotherapy drugs.

The NIH says that the only potential use of CoQ10 that has been supported by good scientific evidence is its ability to help control high blood pressure — taking CoQ10 dietary supplements can produce small reductions in blood pressure. But even this use needs further study, according to the NIH.

Colin,

I can't say who is right but I haven't seen anyone who says it is harmful.

So if the only risk is a tiny loss in my financial resources I will accept that.

I can remember when eggs and fat were bad bad bad.

You could take a tiny amount of vitamin D but now doses are much higher.

Life is full of twists and turns.

Thanks

Colin - I'm still reading .... my thought is... since you've had a very measurable and positive result, I can't see the harm in using this product, other than the cost. Regular, quality, CoQ10 and the Ubiquinol forms are also expensive and have to be taken in higher doses for efficacy.

I'll be watching for your progress reports.

Jackie
