Recommendations for boosting immune system

I am looking for suggestions on supplements to take to boost my immune system. I take 1000 mg of Vitamin C, 110 mg of C and 125 mcg of D. I am 62 and just trying to stay as healthy as possible. Thank you in advance.

This really really works.

I had bronchitis with fever once 5 days before a major surgery and my surgeon told me he is canceling the surgery. I begged him to wait 24 hours. I took 2 capsules twice a day and the second day not only did my fever break but the X-rays showed I was ok for surgery and no longer had bronchitis.
When the pandemic started I bought enough for my entire family including my grandkids (chewable kids strength gummy for them).

I can’t stress enough how powerful beta gluten (good yeast) is. In Japan they use it for along with chemo for breast cancer. Google.

I am taking Zinc (confirmed I was low) along with quercitin.. D3 (when I don't get sun).. I am in low "good range" via blood test..... I avoid C all the time because my urologist said that can exacerbate kidney stones. I have a functional cardiologist and am starting on bergamot and potentially red yeast rice. I have tried d-ribose for afib and may start taking ubquitol. Keep in mind these are all doctor recommended in one way or another. And I go super slow with supplements. I am toying around with getting vitamin C IVs as my gynecologist actually recommended it and does them in his office. I agree with Carey.. exercise and stress reduction. I have been in afib for a stretch now but still (on advice of 3 cardiologists) getting out for walks. I'm slower but it does my head good. On stress.. well I have a 21 yo with special needs (autism-ish) here-- so I try and get to church and we have one person that comes over to buddy with him so I try and get time then. I would add SLEEP- I have a dreadful time sleeping but will not give up the fight to get some good zzzzzzs... I use 0.3mg (yes.. zero point three) of melatonin on occasion. Less is more.

I am not a doctor and don't play one on TV. These are just things I do right now. Oh I DO religiously take Mg with my afib drug.. 200 mg 3 times a day and taurine although I have been lax since this last afib time- just too much to remember..

(and I really don't take all these every day- I kind of toggle around).

Fine, too many things going on in the world to nit pick about supplements.

You are right…too many things…Like the Hanta virus now in Southern CA…if COVID isn’t enough.

Spread by rodents. I had a rat free home until Sunday when my gardener knocked off a crawl space screen. Sunday night I was greeted at midnight by a huge rat who ran from under my bed into my closet. Now I hear it chewing away and it/they found two bathrooms. My luck. But so far no afib from the fright…but tonight is still young.

You can’t even get a rat pest company now to come fast enough because of the Hanta virus. All delayed. I’m living in fear and rat poop. The most relaxing day was yesterday at the hospital (rat free) for a mri.

Some of the symptoms are similar to cardiac.

Hi Smackman - Optimizing one’s immune system is always smart.

You may recall from some of my previous posts on Vitamin D, that I was found to be very deficient when I was finally tested after I became a patient of my Board Certified, Family Practice MD who practices Functional Medicine.

No other prior physician had bothered to run the 25 OHD test, even though I had some classic symptoms of D deficiency including muscle fatigue and weakness. With the supplements, it took some time, but eventually, my D levels were up and the muscle issues diminished. AND as time went on, year after year, when cold and flu season came around, I didn’t have either. That was about year 2000. Prior to that, when I worked as a dental hygienist, I would have at least one winter cold a season – and occasionally, the flu. Proving to me that monitoring my Vitamin D level was important for maintaining my health and optimizing immune system function.

Since then, I’ve continued to take Vitamin D3, 10,000IU during the winter season (here in NEOhio) and 5,000IU 3 times a week from Spring to Fall and continue to remain free of colds and flu. I rarely feel symptomatic for either, but if I do, then I have a preventive regimen of boosting other nutrients in addition to the Vitamin D. (I should also mention that along with the Vitamin D3, I also supplement with K2 MK7.. 90 mcg and double that for the 10K of Vit. D.)

The importance of periodic lab tests for Vitamin D levels should be noted. If you take it.. .then plan to get tested. It can take quite a while to increase levels of D…and in some … they increase quite rapidly. So... be aware and as they say: “ Test. Don’t Guess “

Additionally, if I ever have a hint of cold or flu symptoms, then I increase my daily dose of Liposomal Vitamin C to 2 or 3 a day until the symptoms are gone. Usually a day or two. The “Lipo C” product by Liv-On Labs has been part of my daily routine for many years… mostly in the typical cold and flu season.

The highly beneficial properties of Lipo C has been significantly detailed by Board Certified Cardiologist, Thomas E. Levy, MD, JD, in his very informative books that include Stop America’s #1 Killer, Primal Panacea, and Curing the Incurable. These books are packed with info on a variety of health issues that are managed by reversing vitamin C deficiency and each example is accompanied by evidence cited in over 650 scientific references…. Undoubtedly many more by now as Dr. Levy remains very active and vigilant.

My ophthalmologist and retinal specialist prescribed the eye support nutrients that I’ve been taking for well over 10 years and included in that list is Zinc…. 80 mg a day and to balance that, 2 mg of copper. (I know… I was leery at first of taking copper, but read enough about the reasons why it helps to overcome that concern). After researching the properties of zinc, etc., I learned why copper balances out zinc…and my labs indicate no overload or imbalances…

These are my highlights… I have an additional nutrient regimen dictated by periodic lab test results… Genova Diagnostics NutrEval .. to help keep me healthy.

Healthy regards,

Jackie
