Baking Soda Combats autoimmune disease

Around 60 years ago I remember my mother drinking baking soda daily (and apple cider vinegar). I think she had the same autoimmune condition as I have, though way back then she did not get a medical diagnosis. Baking soda was a popular ‘cure-all’ for so many things in those earlier times. She was clued up - and lived until her mid eighties.

Linsa... The importance of maintaining alkalinity has been emphasized for many years by practitioners of Integrative or Functional Medicine. There is a classic book ... Alkalize or Die by Theodore Baroody (1991) that outlines the basics.
The alkalizing practice is undoubtedly why your mother found it to be supportive. I know it has been helpful to me since I learned about it about 30 years ago.

What would be a good starting dose?

I use half a teaspoon in half a glass of water daily. I wouldn’t use any more than that.
