High metal ions from hip replacerment
July 11, 2012 09:51AM
Thought I would post this here as I can't seem to find a good hip replacement forum. I had a metal on metal hip replacement 3 years ago. I have just learned my blood levels of chromium and cobalt are 30 & 50 ug/L(normal is around 1.8 ug/L). Obviously I am thinking of a revision, but I am having few symptoms with my hip and my docs, plus two different toxicologists say there just isn't enough "data" out there to possibly warrant hip revision surgery. Seems crazy to me. Just wondering if anybody out there has any information on this subject. Thanks.

Hi Jim - Sorry about this complication.... in the medical news emails as of late, there is a lot of info on exactly what you are experiencing.
If I've saved any of it, I'll send to you...or at least give you the links to start a search there.

Regards,
Jackie
