Someone made a MYSTERY POST

Today I see that the red "new posts" is lit up when I visit the forum. So I went to look for the new post, but sadly one of the glaring omissions from this forum software is the ability to click to see new posts. I should be able to click that red "new posts" link and be taken to the new posts but alas, I can't. I actually scrolled back through 5 years of topics and couldn't find this new post so I gave up.

So if you posted today on some old post that maybe you found by searching or something, please reply and tell us where you posted.

And for everyone, if you find an old post and want to reply to it, please do so with a new topic so it appears on the front page. I run into this all the time.

I'd love to have it work that way, but George is right. The forum software will have to be replaced for that to happen, and that's no small task. It's on the agenda and it will happen eventually, but it has to happen in a very careful, planned manner. The last time the forum software was upgraded by Hans, the site lost thousands of older posts. Don't want something like that happening again.

At one time, I suggested that all new responses to threads should be at the top of the page rather than the current format of original topics staying in sequential order as originally posted. This way, responses to older topics don't get lost down the list and out of sight. Topics without a current response work their way down the list.
This way, the most popular topics (lots of responses) remain at the top of the page.
I'm a moderator on a board that does this. I don't think we can do it here without using different software, which is a whole other can of worms.

I believe the post you are discussing was made by lpoleshuck.

The topic title is Triggers: Tyramine and Alcohol. Prior to their post yesterday the last time anyone posted to the topic was June 2017. The first line of their recent post begins with, "It's been more than 6 years since my last post."

By the way you can see the order that discussions/responses are made by clicking on RSS. It does not bring you to the topic but it does show you what the poster discussed and the topic thread it was made under. I use RSS all the time when I can't find a new post.
