shingles vax

Just curious if its considered safe to get the shingles vax for those of us who get AF?I have had 2 shingles episodes in the past 30yrs and because of my age was thinking perhaps its wise to get the vax?

I recently had my second Shingrix vaccine, which is the only one available in the US right now. It's a two-shot vaccine, given 2-6 months apart. Personally, other than a sore arm with the first shot, I didn't have any side effects. That said, overall, there are more short-term side effects reported with Shingrix than with the COVID or Flu vaccines. I suppose that could trigger an episode for a few of us, just like a bad cold can.

On the other hand,Shingles is the last thing you'd want to get if you have Afib. The stress and pain could easily trigger an episode, not to mention a whole host of other complications like nerve pain that can linger for months.

I had active AF when I received my two different versions of shingles vaccine (British Columbia, and this was about seven years ago, would supply one version, and you could pay for the most recent product....but if they were given in that order, you had to wait six months between doses. Dunno the ins and outs of it, but my pharmacist told us about that restriction). I don't recall it triggering any AF, which was coming on every few days by then....so that's why I said 'active'.
