When to stop flecainide

I have been on flecainide since September 2023. I’ve lowered my dose with my EPs permission and am now taking 50 mg. twice a day. I also take 25 mg. metoprolol once a day. I haven’t had any afib since May 2024. I see my EPs NPs on Tuesday. I would like to stop flecainide but keep some on hand to use as PIP. Does this sound reasonable? I do think it is reducing my PVCs and PACs so I’m hoping they don’t increase again. I never had a dangerous amount of them but they were very annoying.

Thanks, Pam

I think it reasonable yes. What do you have to lose? At worst you'll start getting bumps again, and you can always resume your latest prescription if that had been working. Also, it would be nice, even advisable, to cease flecainide about two weeks, maybe only one, not sure, prior to any ablation or a Holter to get a veridical view of what your heart is inclined to do from hour-to-hour.
