Hi , I have asthma plus paroxysmal A Fib. I have always used an Flovent Inhaler which is a corticosteroid inhaler. Now I have run in a situation that my Flovent inhaler isn’t helping me much and my Dr. wants me to try Breo or Advair which are inhalers that that have a corticosteroid and a LABA ( long acting beta 2 Adrenergic agonist ) . I am worried that by using theses inhaler it will set off my A Fib. Has anybody had this happened to them or you do just fine with theses type of inhalers. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Ventolin (salbutamol) is a a short-acting β2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It is widely prescribed in UK for asthma. One of the listed side effects is arrhythmia caused by potassium depletion.

I have taken in total consideration all your questions , but perhaps I should of re worded my question . I wanted to get an overall consensus of people that have asthma and A Fib to see what steroid or combination inhalers have worked for them . Thank you !

Since we are all physiologically unique individuals, IMO, your question(s) should be directed at the physician who prescribed the medication. Does he/she know you have paroxysmal afib? Have you read all the information that came with the inhaler? Do you know fast heart rate is one of the common side effects of the medication? Are you on any medications for your afib or other medications you may be currently taking that might conflict or interact with the inhaler? My apologies, but the above are just a few of my concerns if I was prescribed a new medication.
