Epsom salts and magnesium absorption

Hi,

I'm posting this for a friend who is trying to increase her uptake of magnesium but cannot seem to tolerate oral supplementation. Thanks.

> I have a question. I read that epsom salts are rich in magnesium. If
> one soaks one's feet in epsom salts one can obtain enough magnesium through
> the skin. Is this true? Is there any data on how much magnesium is absorbed
> this way? Can one over-do it by soaking one's feet too long? What is a sensible
> amount of time to soak?

>I have a bad reaction to magnesium supplements so am interested in another
>way to obtain it (in addition to food).

I get my Mitoku brand nigari at [www.naturalimport.com] I usually purchase several 5# bags at once. It works out to about $0.03/gram elemental mag (including shipping).

You can purchase the epsom salts at any pharmacy.

Mr. Bill - you can read about problems with absorption and tolerance with the various magnesium products here:

You may find a tip or a combo of mangesium products that will enable you to optimize your intracellular levels to tissue saturation which is where you need to be to start to get relief from AF. That and then the most important electrolyte, potassium... should start to make a difference for you. You'll need to optimize the magnesium before trying the potassium, though, as it potassium alone may make the AF worse.
