On the advice (last week) of a poster here I ordered Angstrom Minerals (Magnesium)....they call is Mono Atomic and says that it is instanly absorbed and bypasses digestion. 1 oz = 90 MG Sure sounds good, tastes a little salty but has 0 sodium....I'm already rinking it! I'm a chemist (PhD) biophysical chemistry.

To be honest: the term "mono atomic" in this context makes no sense to me. Mono just means "single, one".

Magnesiumchloride is MgCl2. In an overprecise way one could name it: (mono)Magnesium(di)Chloride.

Also, "Angstrom" is a unit mostly used to express the wavelength of light, size of atoms etc.

I suspect you are correct and that the Angstrom magnesium is simply magnesium chloride (MgCl2) dissolved in water. Similarly Waller water is magnesium bicarbonate (Mg(HCO3)2) dissolved in water. In both cases the magnesium (cation) is in ionized form and there is no way that a magnesium ion in MgCl2 can have a different size from a magnesium ion in Mg(HCO3)2.

Did you order this through your business? If so, perhaps you can ask them exactly what Mono Atomic means so you can explain it to your customers who have a chemistry background.

Do they mean that in the liquid, there is only H, O & Mg?

I'm still trying to figure this out chemically.

Try as I can, I'm unable to find anything on Mono Atomic from a site that explains it in a detailed, technical fashion.

My guess is that it has Cl- in addition to the Mg++

KCl, NaCl and MgCl2 all have a salty taste. The common element is Cl-, I believe the metal ion (K+, Na+ or Mg++) and the chloride (Cl-) ion in close association in the liquid is what makes the salty taste.
