The End of Alzheimer’s with Dr. Dale Bredesen

What we call Alzheimer’s disease is actually a protective response to a wide variety of insults to the brain: inflammation, insulin resistance, toxins, infections, and inadequate levels of nutrients, hormones, and growth factors.

This is also a good overview. Though written specifically about ApoE4, it really addresses a lot of lifestyle issues for AlzD. Not as detailed as Bredesen's, but a good intro. It is written by a doc. The whole website has a lot of info, including the wiki [www.apoe4.info]. The President of the group is my friend who consults for Bredesen and she co wrote much of the handbook with Bredesen and Bredesen's wife (an integrative doc)

Probably the handbook.

I know Dr. Bredesen and am very familiar with his work. As well, a close friend consults for him. His central thesis is that AlzD is like 36 holes in the roof. Patch one (which most drugs attempt to do) and you still have a leaky roof. What he attempts to do is individualize care - figure out which holes you have and patch them as best as we can. The patches may not be perfect, but if you patch enough of them (and different people have different holes) you can change the course of the illness, especially if it is not past the point of no return in progression.

His book, "End of Alzheimer's" goes into the theoretical basis for his recommendations.
The End of Alzheimer's Program is more of a user handbook as to how to accomplish this.

Some of the toughest cases are those where a toxin exposure or exposures is involved. You really need an experienced professional to guide you in these cases. Also, it is difficult to implement when someone is already materially compromised and they don't understand why you are asking them to do something, or remember to do it, for that matter (I've been there with my mother). Also difficult if the person is in some kind of care setting as you have to get by-in from the caregivers. Much easier for prevention or early symptoms with people who are self-motivated to implement and follow through.

He talks a lot, rather hard to follow, the only supplement that he talks about is vit. D, that has really come up a lot lately. We know that mold is bad but a lot of things that he talks about is true for a lot of diseases. He mentions hormones, which are usually quite low in older people so maybe that is bad for the brains memory storage.
