I've sent PM's to a number of members with no problems but when I tried to send one to Barry G I couldn't. I keep getting a "you have not specified any recipients for your message", even though I have. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
I suffered a lot from GERD for quite a long time mostly during the night. I then started taking a little over half a teaspoon of baking soda at bedtime and haven't been bothered with it since. For me the salt content isn't a problem as I don't eat out, get takeaways or add salt to any foods so I actually have to add salt (coarse sea salt) to two of the glasses of water I drink eaby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM

So far I have not been able to get an answer from Bordeaux on this. I will keep trying. They insist on a TEE before going - which makes sense otherwise a person could fly there and have to fly straight home again. As far as I can tell they do not do another TEE there.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
I know the Ablation cannot go ahead. What I'm wondering is what happens cost wise. If I go to Bordeaux the operation will be paid for a month in advance. The TEE has to be done during the week before the op. Do I lose the money and have to pay again when the Ablation can be done?by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Except for a few weeks 3 years ago I have only had episodes about 3 times a year. However from the start of February I've been having episodes every third night. I've used Flec as a PIP which converts me in 2-3 hours. I'm trying to arrange for an ablation in Bordeaux next month but this number of episodes presents two problems. 1) The possibility of blood clots. 2) An episodby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Some years ago I was put on an Amiodarone drip to revert Afib. It didn't work and when the Cardiologist came to see me the next day his first comment was "I see they've put you on the poison!" Another Cardiologist a couple of years later gave me a prescription for Amiodarone to prevent future episodes. I didn't use it.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Has anyone flown to Bordeaux for an ablation? If so do you know whether it is possible to take food supplements like Magnesium, Potassium, Vitamin C etc to France or would these be impounded at Customs. If you flew from the U.K. was there any problem taking these on to the plane? And what about medicine such as Betablockers for rate control until the operation? Thanks Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Let add my thanks for this great resource, Shannon. Wish I'd had it when my Afib started but then again I didn't even have internet access for about the first seven years! Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
This post interested because of the TEE (TOE in the U.K. - different spelling). I've had 4 CV's but a TOE was never done - or mentioned.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
My TSH was up to 9.7. I stopped eating anything with Gluten in it and the figure returned to normal in six weeks.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've reread the information from Bordeaux and I think I've got it wrong. At first reading it seemed that if the PVI was not completely successful I would have to have another operation but I think it's saying that if the PVI doesn't stop Afib the operation will continue, ablating other areas.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
My Afib episodes, apart from a few weeks in February 2015, have been 2 or 3 a year - until now. Over the past 6 or 7 weeks they've been coming every second or third night. I hoped like 2015 that would revert to a few a year but it's not looking likely. So time to consider an ablation. I contacted Prof Schilling in London and Prof Jais in Bordeaux. I was expecting that both would mapby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM

It seems to be very difficult getting costs of an Ablation in the U.K. I phoned her PA but the best I could get was around £11,000 or £12,000 charged by the Hospital and not even an estimate of how much the Doctor's fee would be. Just that it would depend on the complexity of the operation. Did anyone else get a more definite figure? Has anyone else had an Ablation here and can tell meby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
After 17 years I think it may be time to have an ablation. I did come close 3 years ago when, after 14 years of around 3 episodes a year, I had a run of Afib and Bigeminy happening every other night. However I returned to 2 or 3 a year until now. Over the last 6 weeks or so I've had 14 episodes & this time there's no sign of it stopping. Mike, did you get a price for Dr Ernst? I looked into going to her three years ago and the price was over £21000. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Dean - that worked. Sadly the posts giving full details of his Ablation are missing.I have an email address which I'll use to contact him Thanks for the PM, Jackieby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks for the replies, folks. Carey - I should have said that pulse rate is when I'm resting in bed at night. Day time resting rate is 60. Since exercising when pac's start in the night stops them and resulting Afib is seems logical that the lower rate is a cause. Jackie - Thanks for the link. It's interesting but I've never been an excessive exerciser. George - I&by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm having some problems at the moment with Afib episodes caused by Bradycardia. My resting heart rate is in the mid fifties; not super low but enough to give me pacs at night which can increase into Afib. I can stop this happening by exercising - bending and straightening my legs quite quickly but it doesn't exactly make for a good nights sleep! Finding a supplement to overcomeby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sue, you're drinking plenty of water but try to drink it a little at the time rather than glug down a full glass in a few seconds.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM

Casey, are you having a joke with us about no difference between sea salt and sodium chloride? A simple google search will show you that in addition to sodium and chloride sea salt also contains calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, copper, phosphorus, bromine, iron, manganise, sulpher, silicon etc.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
My first advice here would be to find a Therapist who uses Maitland techniques. These are much gentler than the full thrust manipulations of a chiropractor. There are some basic mobilising movements that you can do yourself. Note that I've called these movements rather than exercises. They MUST be done as smoothly and effortlessly as possible. The less muscle involvement you use the betteby Sam - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
