Received my appointment for an ultrasound this morning. It will be on 16th August. For the Health Service here that is very quick. It was only when I received this that I realised I've been confusing Echocardiogram with Electrocardiography. (Now I understand your comment, Mike!) My only excuse is that I've been feeling very poorly since the operation. My apologies to all of you.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sorry to confuse you, Carey. I used it because I thought mcwf had come up with a simple abbreviation. Saw my GP this morning and had an ECG done right away but she said she couldn't tell from it if I had Pericardial Effusion and gave me a letter with the printout and full medical history to take to A&E . Initial waiting time there was unusually short but was followed by almost thrby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
PE is not uncommon after an ablation and was one of the first things they checked for after mine. They checked three times over the time I was there and as it was reducing each time they said it would disappear on its own.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've been experiencing discomfort and pressure in the chest when I walk or do anything that involves a degree of exertion since my Bordeaux ablation five weeks ago. I finally got a response today to my e-mails to Prof Jais. He has recommended an echocardiogram to check for Pericardial Effusion. I'll hopefully get an appointment with a GP tomorrow morning but the state of the Health Sby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM

I took the Laxilo - 2 sachets first day, 4 the next and 6 the next. The constipation resolved but left me with serious diarrhea for the last day and a half. Now trying to resolve that by adding white bread, white rice, an extra banana a day and live yogurt .by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM

Arrived after a turbulent flight at Bordeaux Airport Sunday 10th June where I was met by two members of my religion who took me to the Hotel Campanile where they got me and my wife booked in for the the night. They returned at 6.30 next morning and took us to the L'Hopital Haut Leveque. Quite an old and somewhat dimly lit building. They went through the check-in procedure and went with us toby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks, Carey, have done as you suggested.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
There have been good posts of the Ablation itself but not much on the preparation beforehand which can be quite complicated. My ablation onvolved flying from Dublin which means only one flight per day – by Aer Lingus. From Britain there will probably be a lot more choice. I wasn't referred by a Cardiologist; I did everything by myself with a little help from my G.P. Step one was toby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ablation done on Monday, 11th June. Seriously constipated since. Hospital said Morphine was cause and, although I mentioned it each day they just gave me a Rhubarb fibre small tub once. I started using glycerol suppository two days ago and am taking 600mg mag citrate. Only very slight improvement. Will see my GP on Wednesday. Any advice meantime much appreciated.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, folks! One point I missed out. Even though the TOE report noted that the device went in easily I had a pretty sore through once the spray effect wore off and now, two days later it's still quite uncomfortable.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Went to the Mater Private Hospital in Dublin yesterday 6th June for the TOE. It was a drive on a hot day of over 100 miles and took 3 hours, leaving at 6.05 A.M. My brother-in-law kindly took me as driving oneself is not recommended. I arrived at 9.05, filled in a long health related form and then was seen by a Nurse(?) who asked lots of questions and filled in another long form. I was then seby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM

I stop Flec Wednesday before Bordeaux Ablation next Monday. I got Bisoprolol today for rate control when heart goes into Afib. but she was wary of prescribing it thinking it should not be used before an ablation. She checked with a cardiologist who felt the same. I'm certain it's OK but I promised to contact an expert to confirm hence my query.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, the whole idea behind Serrapeptase ( as you probably know) is that it dissolves non-living tissue in the body. If you Goggle 'Serrapeptase for scar tissue' you'll find a multitude of references saying that it dissolves scar tissue. Since an ablation works by creating scar tissue in the heart muscle it seemed to me that it would also dissolve these scars. I cannot logicaby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just a reminder for those using or thinking of using this supplement. I've been a regular user of Serrapeptase for some time for its benefits in getting rid of fibrosis and helping prevent senile dementia. However I'll be getting an ablation soon and that means I'll be stopping Serrapeptase as it could dissolve the vital scar tissue preventing Afib. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Many thanks for all your replies! My feeling was that 5 days to be sure was the one to go with. That's what most of you said and that's what I'll do. Thanks again Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm currently on 25 mg Flecainide twice a day. I'm going to Bordeaux for an Ablation on 11th June. The Check List they send to tick and return just before the operation date says to stop antiarrhythmics 48 hours before the operation. That seems quite clear but the details they send when you initially contact them says 5 days. Yes, I have tried to get clarification on the difference aby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM

When you play golf you always swing the club in the same direction. This is obviously the natural thing to do but it puts uneven stress on back joints and muscles. A simple - but surprisingly effective - way of overcoming this to do a few swings in the opposite direction after the 9th & 18th holes. This will feel very awkward and get you some strange looks but it's worth it. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM

1) What supplements should I avoid? 2) What supplements should I increase? 3) Can I continue taking 75 mg Aspirin? (Very effective for Nocturnal Polyuria). Thanks for for help. It was prescribed by Prof Jais for 5 weeks prior to an Ablation in Bordeaux mid-June. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
I will hopefully be going to Bordeaux next month. All the big stuff is sorted but some advice from those who've been there would help settle my nerves. Why nervous? Well, I'm seriously scared of flying and my wife doesn't believe I'll actually go through with it when the time comes! The thought of the TOE (TEE) doesn't help either.
