After a considerable time of pain with urination, which I took be caused by an enlarged prostate (which I treated with Beta Sistosteril. Iodine and - one at the time - pygeum extract, pomegranate extract and a few others), I discovered I was retaining a litre of urine. I saw a urologist who said I had a weak pump (bladder) and restricted flow (prostate) and strongly recommended a TURP prostateby Sam - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Some strange absorption rates, Jackie. I spent a lot of time researching this some time ago. I don't have all the details now but every source I looked at listed Magnesium Oxide's absorption rate as 4% while Glycinate and Citrate were both 80% - 90%. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
People in Northern Ireland wish you were right , David, but sadly not. If someone here is able to do the procedure (and levels of skill are not taken into account) then referral will not happen Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks David, Sadly the right of referral doesn't apply in my part of the UK. I was told if I wanted to go down the ablation road (I've got things pretty much under control at the moment) I could wait till someone here starts doing ablations and then I could be referred to them. Doesn't appeal!by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
David, Are you being treated on the NHS or privately? I tried to find out the cost of Private ablation by Dr Ernst but my query to the Royal Brompton (using their website) brought the name of another Doctor and a request for my medical history but no details of the cost. Thanks Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Are you working out too much? You haven't said anything about the type or duration of your workouts but as a rule 3 per week is the maximum anyone should do, allowing at least a 24 hour rest in between for recovery. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just to be completely clear - the protruded gel is not reabsorbed into the disc. It's absorbed in the sense of being removed after the outer fibrous outer wall of the disc has healed. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
A disc cannot slip out of position and be repositioned. Although many medical practitioners still use the term (because patients like it) the correct term is Prolapsed or Herniated Disc. In this condition the outer fibrous wall of the disc splits and the gel in the centre of the disc protrudes, pressing on nerves and causing pain which can be very intense. This gel cannot be put back into tby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Be careful, Joe. 200 mg Manganese a day sounds crazy.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Manganese is needed in very small amounts for good health but the most common upper limit given is 11 mg per day. It may have some benefit for a prolapsed or herniated disc (did your Chiropractor really call it a slipped disc?) if your diet is deficient in it. NutritionData.com is a good site for checking how much you're getting in your food. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Today is the first time I've come across this type of magnesium. I've done some Googling without getting the answers to:- 1) How does this differ from mag glycinate 2)Is it better? Anyone got the answers? Thanks Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Somebody seems to have had it in for this product in the past and the false statements about it are still circulating on the internet. For example - the source of citric acid in the product is non-GM sugar beets grown in Belgium. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, Can you tell me what the percentage of Taurine is in Magnesium Taurate? I checked iHerb and they do a Douglas Laboratories product which they say contains 400 mg magnesium. Since Mag Taurate is 9% elemental mag this seems unlikely - especially since they recommend 4 tablets per day! Any thoughts? Thanks Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks for the replies. Shannon - I always keep my magnesium and Potassium intake at optimal levels. While some web sites warn about possible dangers of removing essential minerals the majority I researched concluded this was not a problem, especially if taken on an empty stomach. Allan - great to hear you got rid of your cancer! I wonder which of your protocols did the trick?by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
On the 18th I posted re taking Trimethoprim for a possible Urinary Tract Infection. I agreed with the advice given and started using D Mannose instead. I received the tests results today - all clear. Normally a welcome result except the front runner now for my symptoms - slightly increased frequency, greatly increased urgency and burning - is Prostate Cancer. I received a delivery of IP6by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jogging has been shown to damage the muscles, the joints and the heart. Look into brief sessions of interval training for fitness - and be careful about how much effort you put into the "all-out" parts. Build up slowly and never strain.by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the advice, folks! I had, if fact, started D Mannose so I've now increased the dose and will at least wait till I get the results of the test tomorrow for a final decision with the odds against using the antibiotic. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
I try to avoid medicines if at all possible and can't remember the last time I had an antibiotic. It's been prescribed for Urinary Tract Infection though this diagnosis hasn't been confirmed yet. I'll know in 2 or 3 days when test results come back but my GP feels it's important to start immediately to avoid the the infection going to the kidneys. (I'm hoping it iby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
This supplement is getting quite a lot of publicity recently as a cure for cancer. It's also claimed to alleviate the effects of chemotherapy and help treat depression, diabetes, osteoporosis, heart disease and kidney stones. Quite a list - maybe too many claims? I'm particularly interested in the cancer cure aspect as a friend recently died of Oesophageal cancer, another friend&by Sam - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Please ignore my post! When I read Dee's post I thought she was saying ggheld was a type of breathing exercise. (I wasn't feeling very well that day so I'll blame that - though it could just be my age - sigh. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Tom. Another example of how individuals differ. I gave up wheat for some time and it made no difference except I had acid reflux during this period. When I went back to wheat (I eat a small amount of home-baked organic wheaten) the reflux disappeared. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom, I think a lot of Forum members would be interested in exactly what you eat - a typical daily menu - to show us how you get all the Potassium you need from food. A lot of us find that very difficult Thanks Sam,by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
ART is very similar, almost identical, to the complementary medicine called Kineseology. I studied Kineseology thoroughly to the point of getting a Diploma and qualifying to practice it with a view to including it in my Manipulative Therapy Practice. I never did because in practice I found it simply didn't work. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, William, I'll gradually raise the dose again and see what happens. Samby Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
William, If I remember rightly you had my problem with iodine - an intolerance causing cold-like symptoms. I did work up to 15 mgs a day but couldn't stand the side effects so only use a very small amount every other day and even that causes mild symptoms. I know I need more. Did you ever manage to overcome the intolerance? Sam P.S. Nice to see you posting again!by Sam - AFIBBERS FORUM
