Just wanted a name for a consultation — not for me. Close to Plano.by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, Carey, but that is about 8 hours south of Plano.by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey, I’m SOOO hoping it isn’t the drug. The information I read also said a rash from a drug would usually appear within a few hours. When I meet with my doctor next week I will ask if I can go off it for a few days and see if it persists. I’m hoping it’s not the drug, but can’t think of anything else that has changed. Interestingly, I stopped drinking wine (which I drank almost every night)by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
I started taking 25 mg ER metoprolol toward the end of October and it has worked very well. During an ekg at my physical my average hr was 107 and my doctor talked me into a low dose. The only problem is I now have a rash on my face. It was originally on my neck; then my neck cleared up but it is on my lower face. Metoprolol is the only change I can think of that has caused this. It didn’t cby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
ggheld, I’m not getting any procedure done. I was using it as an example because Carey had stated that “aspirin disables your platelets permanently.” That didn’t make sense to me because if platelets never rebuild, why stay on aspirin forever….by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey, thank you for your clarification. It was my understanding that platelets start “rebuilding” after 4 days of discontinuing aspirin. I will research this further. If I am having oral surgery (or any surgery), I am told to stop aspirin for a week before — are you saying that if I’ve been taking aspirin for several years and there is a bleeding issue in the dentist’s chair, I would a full tby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey, I am on the recommended 81 mg aspirin daily, I’m curious who told you 325 mg, and also why you believe aspirin is more dangerous than a blood thinner. Dr. Doshi is a highly regarded EP. I will listen to all opinions; but I’m curious what your credentials are.by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb, I had mine done by Dr Doshi at the Pacific Heart Institute in Santa Monica.by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wow, I have not been on here for years. I came on because I had a watchman put in in 2018 and am on aspirin daily but wondered if anyone had thoughts about that. I’m sure my doctor would tell me to take it for the rest of my life, but I think he has to. I remember before I had the procedure someone saying I could probably go off it in 6 months. I can’t believe I didn’t even have to do a seaby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
I may not get a response in time because I just thought of this. I’m having a Watchman follow up TEE tomorrow. The first follow up showed a blood clot on the Watchman device. I’ve been on Xarelto and aspirin since. I have been taking the aspirin before I get out of bed so I don’t forget, but I don’t know if I should take it tomorrow morning. ( I forgot to ask.). Also the TEE was originally sby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, thank you so much for your, always, good information. I’m sure what I was given will show up in my TEE report. I will have to have another in 30 days or so and I will definitely request Propofol. A TEE is a quite short procedure so I don’t know why I would be “drugged up.” I appreciate the facts from you and Carey about the clot — it was certainly disconcerting but the “hangover” iby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jim, thank you! Actually I’m a huge fan of Cardiokinase and took it exclusively for all of 2017 because Xarelto was so expensive. I have Hans’ latest book, which is “paper clipped” on many pages. I wish now I had been taking it since my Watchman procedure but thought it was overkill. I am now taking it again and will probably take it or Nattokinase along with aspirin the rest of my life!by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, Carey. Yes, I always take mine at dinner time.by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, Carey. I’ll be 70 next month, but I don’t consider that (or me) elderly. Nothing else applies. Maybe just tired from the stress of the found clot and another TEE in a month.😊by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have a question (not urgent) about the anesthesia. When I had my Watchman procedure I know they used Propofol and that was fine. I had very little, if any after effects. Yesterday the Anesthesiologist asked me if I was okay with the “drug they used last time,” and I said yes. He then told me he was going to use another drug. I cannot remember it, but it started with Ma.... I came home andby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, AB. I take all of my supplements meds at the same time with meals every day. I may have missed a couple of doses of aspirin because I chew it separately, usually when I first wake up. I’m not sure that was the cause, because it would have been rare, and I was also on Xarelto for the first 6 weeks and then on Plavix for the next six weeks along with the aspirin. Of course this scarby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, Brian — I’ve never heard of a “clot buster” drug, but if there is one I’m anxious to hear the responses!by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Carey. What if the clot breaks free from the metal?by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just got back from TEE, which was to follow up on Watchman implant January 31. There is a small clot on the device and the Dr put me back on Xarelto for 30 days, when I will have another TEE to make sure the clot is gone. I had been on Xarelto for 45 days after initial procedure along with 81mg aspirin. He replaced the Xarelto with Plavix for another 6 weeks. I didn’t know Xarelto dissolvedby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lance, you must be a research expert. I found the exact post! Thank you so much. Louiseby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
This is not related to a fib, but Shannon had responded to me about this several years ago. I went off HRT the end of January, after 3 months of gradually reducing the dosage. I have gained weight and have 7-10 hot flashes a day. I went because. Didn’t know if I still needed them but am now reconsidering. Shannon, at the time you were telling me the benefits of staying on them, but I can’t fiby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
I got 5mg Melatonin and used it one night. Im glad I have it and wasn’t too hung over; but for whatever reason since I’ve been sleeping okay without it.by Louise - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Carey, I really have no idea. I had an appointment and we discussed my history, current situation, ablation, etc. I asked him about the Watchman and he said he thought it would be a good option but didn’t really talk to me about getting it approved or the process or anything. My husband said he heard him say something about getting approval and said (I don’t remember her name) would call me toby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
For years I took 1/2 Triazolam to sleep. I have eliminated all prescriptions including HRT, with the exception of temporary Clopidegrel (sp). - Plavix- post Watchman. I just decided to “re-learn” how to sleep naturally. I was doing well until I quit the HRT. I do not want to back on that just for sleep. Two day ago I got 10mg time-released Melatonin and took one 30 minutes before bed. I sby Louise - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
