Well my pulse at rest (Or resting heart rate) was increased from 60-70 before my first ablation to 80 - 95 after for at least 1.5 - 2 years. Than it gradually decreased. So you are probably fine.by dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Shannon for the answer. I was a bit hesitant in the beginning to withdraw from Eliquis but i do trust Natalie's conclusions that it is safe to do so. It has been over a year since my second Natale ablation (first was in 2008 in SF) and so no AF episodes. I hope it stays that way.by dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
That is all interesting since my velocity was 34cm/sec but Natale said i was OK because it was "contracting". I am not even sure in this case how to understand "must be > 45cm/sec"by dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ron. I probably will follow his advice. It is just inner me a bit worried that what if he was in a harry and mistaken. Although he seemed sure that i should be OK. It has been almost a year since my procedureby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Roketrich, I do have a mixed feelings about it. Being a little chicken at stopping Elquis. And from the other hand I am happy to be drugs free. I hope your touch up procedure is going to be the last one you needby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am a frequent reader on this forum but not very frequent poster. Not sure some of you may recall that i had a touch up ablation with Dr Natale last August and finally had my follow up appointment on May 30 with TEE. TEE was done because my CS was ablated and LAA was ablated and delayed ( as i understand not completely electrically isolated). I did not see Dr Natale right away but spoke to cardby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Mack, Yes I had 10 years Afib/meds free. As I mentioned on this forum already I had exactly 10 years between two episodes: My last episode before my first ablation was March 8 2008 (International Women's day ))))) And my first reoccurrence happened March 8 2018 ( Obviously women's day had something to do with it )))))))....... . My reoccurrence episode was not very long (1.5 hby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Mack, After my first ablation in 2008 my resting heart rate was in upper 80's low 90's.(before 1 st ablation it was low 60's) . This rate persisted well over a year and then gradually slowed down. Interestingly enough after my second ablation in 2018 my rate did not go up a lot. Also I remember that when i came for follow up in Austin after my first procedure Nurse said thby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Had an ablation with dr Natale in March 2008 in San Francisco after almost 10 years of Paroxysmal Afib. I was 36 at that time. 10 years in the beginning of 2018 i started having episodes again. Actually i had 3 episodes lasting about for an 1 and a half and just decided in no time to go for touchup. In August 2018 had second ablation with Natale at St. Davis. So far I am in NSR after my secby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
As Carrey explained above it is done for the mapping system. Think of it as GPS map of your heart. Interestingly enough Dr. Natale did not require CT scan for my second ablation which happened 10 years after the first one. It surprised me a bit. I was told that it is not necessary and most likley nothing changed since my first ablation. Denissby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
I totally agree with wolfpack. And if you can afford to go to Austin then that would be the place to go.by dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Michael, Good day. I recently had my second in 10 years ablation with Dr. Natale. My attacks usually lasted 5 - 7 hours but my longest was 16 hours. It sounds yours are even worse. My Afib returned last (2018) year and i had just 3 episodes which lasted 1 - 2 hours each before i opted for 2 ablation cause i just do not want to deal with it. So if I were in your shoes I would opt for the 2 aby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey/wolfpack, thanks for your answers.by dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
alxndr01 Contact Dr. Rendal Wolf 877-900-2342 he offers minimally invasive LAA removal/closure. However Carey is right LAA removal by itself is not going to eliminate Afib.by dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello everyone, It has been 4+ month after my second ablation with Dr. Natale in Austin (first one was March 2008 also with Natale in San Francisco). I am happily report that I am in NSR since the ablation. Still on blood thinner(Eliquis). Have to schedule follow up visit sometime in February or March. One thing that worries me is that in those 4 month I had 3 -4 times short episodes (aroundby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks to all who answered. My GI issues slowly but steadily getting resolved on it's own. Steel not 100% there yet but almost. I feel fine and even went fishing this weekend in a kayak. So far so good.by dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good day everyone. I came back to NY from Austin this Sunday (Sep 2) after my touch up procedure. Procedure went well. Dr. Natale cleaned up (in his own words) his work which he did 10 years ago. Two of my pulmonary veins reconnected, CS completely reconnected, he also ablated posterior wall and "delayed" signals from LAA. My LAA produced only ectopics and Dr. Natale said that nothingby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, Thanks for the info. Relaxing effect on the muscle is what I thought and that would calm the heart rate down. it may be was just a coincidence. The reason i ask also because of upcoming procedure and the doubt that may be i inflicted those attacks on myself and Dr, Natale would not find the cause of the arrhythmia since electrolyte imbalance can throw anybody out of rhythm. it just seemed suspicious for me. I am just curious if by spraying myself ( if of cause claim about topical solution is true) i created some kind of electrolyte imbalance which threw me into AFby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good day everyone, As I already mentioned on this forum I am heading to Austin for touchup ablation with Dr. Natale on August 29. My arrhythmia made a comeback this year and I decided that I need to act. However I had just 3 episodes since March this year. I gave it a little thoughts and remember that every time before the episode erupted I used the liquid oil spray with magnesium. It is statby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
AB Page, Thanks a lot. I certainly hope that my touch up will not include LAA. Since March i had just 3 episodes and they were relatively short ( 1.5 to 2 hours) but i am often in remote areas fishing and also kayaking in white water. It is not fun to have an episode while crossing some rapids. So I decided that it is time to act again and Dr. Natale agreed.by dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
smackman, I just got an info from Dr. Rendall Wolf. He claims that his minimally invasive LAA ectomy is covered by most insurances. Not sure how he achieves that but may be an option for you. Yes it is a surgery but hey it may be a small price to pay for getting rid of AC. Try talking to him(call 877-900-2342) because I would be also interested if I have my LAA ablated. I will have second proceby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey, I got a question for you. I watched dr. Wolf presentation regarding his procedure (Wolf Mini maze) where he also talks about LAA closure and various methods of doing it. He claims that surgical removal is superior method to both Watchman and Lariat devices. Have you seen that? If you did just want to hear your thoughts about it. He claims that this is relatively simple procedure whichby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have to ask another question. What is used right now as AC before and after the procedure? Is it still Warfarin or is it going to be Eliquis ir similar drug??by dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
tobherd, It is even harder to convince your cardiologist to refer you to the best EP. I have scheduled procedure with dr. Natale in August. My cardiologist was really frustrated as to why I am flying to Texas. He was trying to convince me that now i could do ablation locally and everybody has the skills to do it right now. The underestimation of the importance of who performs the ablation mightby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good day Socalstev, I had my first ablation 10 years ago with Dr. Natale and it was stable until this year. Since March I had 3 episodes each lasting 1-2 hours. Yes i would also say it is Lite version of what i had before. I decided that I do not want to live (I am active and in September turn 47) with it and go for the second ablation with Dr. Natale in August.by dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well Your reply is really encouraging. I hope it is just a re-connection of PV. My episodes now are short comparing to what they were 10 years ago. So I keep my fingers crossed that this is the caseby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello, rocketritch, thanks for replay. In my life i was always trying to stay away from meds. I took them only when i had no other choice. I admire Carey and his ability to accept the reality(and to be honest even envy) but the fact that it was my philosophy to avoid meds when ever possible is hard to overcome. Even more to be on meds for life is hard to comprehend But i guess if it happens i havby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good Day Jackie, Thanks for the info. You are right my afib seems genetic in nature. Neither my mom or my father had Afib however I know my ( I am very bad at the hierarchy relation) grandmother's sister also had a daughter so she has Afib as well. To be honest I would be upset if this time because of my LAA I would need to be on AC for life. This is exactly because I am still young and itby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wow. I read about your Odyssey and I should say mine was not as tough as yours. I also started from once a year and then deteriorated to once per two weeks. That is when I went for procedure. Which stopped it for 10 years. You are right I am a bit overblown by the possibilities of long term AC but somehow it is stuck in a back of my head. In your story you mentioned potassium and I should say thby dartisskis - AFIBBERS FORUM
