I had flutter-like and AF episodes so had a 2nd ablation 5 months after my first ablation. It's now been 7 months and so far so good.by Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello everyone. I haven't posted in a long time but wanted to give you all a quick update. 2018 was quite the year for me. Had a stroke in January. First ablation in March. Second ablation in August. Right knee total replacement in October. Left knee total replacement in December. Lost 90 pounds. !!!! Recently had my follow up with Dr. Natale and he said I could go off the Eliquisby Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for all your well wishes. 2nd ablation went well. He did not have to isolate the LAA which is great. So we'll see how it goes and hopefully this did the trick.by Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
Met with Dr. Natale today in Thousand Oaks. I'll be doing my 2nd ablation this Friday. First was this past April. Have had some runs of AF and what feels to me like flutter but could be tachy. Had an episode this morning that lasted 3 hours and have that every few days. He said he will know more once he's in there. May have to involve the LAA. Grateful that he comes here once a mby Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
SoCalSteve-- I had an ablation w/ Natale in Thousand Oaks. I live in Redondo Beach. What a thread! I lived with AF for 16 years before my ablation this past April. Didn't even know it was called AF until I landed in the hospital in January with a stroke. I'm saying this to speak directly about doctors. I had a very well respected cardiologist who never could "catch" myby Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had my first ablation with Dr. Natale back in April. I took one week off work. That's it. The first day or two after the procedure I was tired and sore. When I say sore I do not mean in my chest. Right after the procedure and into the evening I did some coughing which is completely normal. By the next day that was pretty much gone. The soreness I'm referring to is my muscles.by Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes. Dr. N put me on Multaq after ablation. Good Luck!!by Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
First off, Welcome! You've come to the right place. I'm not sure what your AF history is, but the one thing about AF is that your risk of stroke does definitely increase so anti-coagulation drugs (such as Eliquis, etc.) may be wise. I had a stroke in January which the doctor believed was due to my AF. Long story but I finally was diagnosed with AF while in the hospital being treaby Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
You could say it was persistent but definitely not permanent. I first felt AF 16 years ago. At first was only once every 4-5 months and lasted only an hour or two. Over the yeas it has been more frequent and longer duration. The year prior to my ablation it really went into overdrive and I was having AF a few times a month and it would last for days. The longest was 5 days. Never was cardioby Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
It's been 3 months since my ablation with Dr. Natale. NP said she will call me when to come in to get monitor so they can check me out. But I already know that I'm been having AF occurrences. Not nearly as long as pre-ablation. Longest around 3 hours, but they are happening more often. I knew a follow up ablation might be necessary so this doesn't worry me. I'm so sorry to hear this. Glad that you are on the mend and wish you all the best!by Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for the link. As I'm post ablation it's good to know what I'm experiencing is normal.by Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just a reminder that you should really know how well your kidneys are functioning before taking potassium supplements. The blood work prior to my ablation last month alerted me to the fact that I'm in stage 4 chronic kidney disease. (Stage 5 is renal failure.) Now I must track and limit the amount of potassium (and phosphorus, sodium, and protein) in the food I eat. Hoping to hold off dby Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuotePompon I've read here lots of comments from people having mainly long afib episodes. Did some of you already experienced many short afib attacks, like those I've to bear? How did they evolve? I've had afib for 16 years. In the beginning my episodes were few and far between and didn't last very long. Maybe a few hours. I could go months at a time with no afib. I'm waiting with baited breath to hear the rest of your surgery diary. Did you have the surgery?by Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
This is very disturbing. I too am on Eliquis.by Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey - I appreciate you telling of your experience with Multaq and getting off it sooner. Since a few days ago with the weird mouth feel/taste, I've started to feel yucky. My stomach is not right. It's not acid like, but more gurgle-y. More tired than usual. The weird taste isn't metallic. More plastic. No, more fermented. It's hard to explain. Weird.by Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
It's neither positive or negative. It's more contemplative. Maybe serious. Yet, I'm also very cheerful and happy to chat when with others, to go places with friends. When I'm alone I like to sit and read or watch tv or sit on my deck and listen to music in my headphones. While doing these things I find that I start to stare off into space and have these deep thoughts. Myby Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
I didn't quite know how to label this post. So... I'm almost two weeks post ablation with Dr. Natale. All going good. Did have a 5-hr afib episode on day 5 but nothing since. After the ablation Dr. Natale has put me on Multaq for two months. I've started to have this really weird taste in my mouth. I know a lot of people here have had ablations with Dr. Natale and if he putby Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wanted to give you a quick update. I had my ablation with Dr. Natale on 4/6. I took a week off and just rested and relaxed at home. Back to work as of yesterday and feel fine. On day 5 after the ablation I did have a 5-hr go of afib. I was a little disappointed but knew that this is to be expected during the blanking period. Since then I'm doing good. My concern for the original poster Enfibber is that if you have been in afib for the last six months the chances of a clot forming are increasing. Stroke because of clot is real. It happened to me.by Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am scheduled to have an ablation this Friday, 4/6/18 by Dr. Natale in Thousand Oaks, CA. I've had afib (what for years I simply called an arrhythmia) since I was 40. I'm now 56. For years I only had it now and then and it didn't last for more than a few hours. But over the years, and especially in the last couple years I have it more often and it lasts longer, like 2-3 days atby Victoria - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am new to this forum but when I saw this post I did want to mention that Dr. Natale does practice once a month near Los Angeles in a town called Thousand Oaks. I have an appt. on 3/20 with his nurse practitioner and am hoping to be scheduled for an ablation in early April. Here is the phone number of the office in Thousand Oaks.
