Ahhh....so I am a certified Sleep Science Coach and have helped my clients who have struggled with chronic insomnia, finally get a good night's sleep. In the case of MeganMN, I may not be as helpful at this point, as it sounds like your heart situation needs some resolution first. When you get that resolved, you may still have difficulty sleeping (hopefully not), because your brain isby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Carey. I have to agree with you on most supplements, as their efficacy and absorption rate are pretty poor. However, I've learned a great deal over the years about them in general, and know which ones to trust and which ones actually make a difference. Berberine has a long history in Chinese medicine, for one. It's a new one for me though. Here's an interesting articleby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Bettylou - I'll see if I can find a pharmacist in my cardiologist's group. My usual pharmacist had never heard of Berberine..... I was hoping Carey or Shannon would hop on with some possible insights, but haven't heard from them. Be well ~ Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Has anyone tried Berberine to help with weight management and glucose levels, AND is also taking Eliquis? I"m having trouble getting an answer as to whether this combination is a problem or not. I am on a low dose of Eliquis (2.5 mg/BID) Anyone? ~ Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Done! This site has been a God send over the years. Thank you!! Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Did you happen to notice if it mentioned Eliquis too, Steven?by tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello all - after 2 ablations and a Watchman, all done by Dr. Natale, I have been Afib free for 9.5 years. I continue on a low dose of Eliquis 2.5mg/BID, as a precaution, at the recommendation of Dr. Natale, as I had a LAA ablation. I'm fine with it except when I want/need to take something that might interact with it. I would like to take a product that has Berberine in it. When I Gby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
HI Jim - I don't know what kind of Flutter it was. When I got it, it was the one and only time I had to be cardioverted, and that only lasted 2 weeks. The "touch up" ablation wasn't that long, and I recouped very quickly afterwards. I remember my sister and I walking downtown either later that day or the next morning....I'm sorry I don't have more detailed informaby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had AFib for over 10 years. Then a Dr. Natale ablation. Then Flutter. Dr. Natale again. I've also had every Covid shot offered, and have had zero problems - and have also never had Covid. I saw my brother suffer with Shingles for almost a year - in a lot of pain. I got my Shingles shot. I got walking pneumonia and felt lousy for a whole month. Got my pneumonia vaccine. My Afib started with a big swig of Starbucks coffee, sitting in the car on our way back from our daughter's lacrosse game. I went on to have Afib fairly often, but could always - always, stop it with a brisk walk. I went "into gear",( meaning NSR) after I got to a certain speed, I guess. Because I could make it stop, I kept putting off doing anything about it. After getting toby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
This post is about Eliquis and interactions with that. I was concerned about getting too much blood thinning, hence my questions. Anyone else on this particular drug and interactions?by tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Which two are you referring to, Daisy?by tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
As many of us probably do, I now have arthritis, in my knees, hip and maybe some of my fingers.....ah, the golden years! I would like to take a supplement that has been very helpful for some people I know, but it does have chokeberry, ginger, and tumeric in it. How careful do we need to be when on a 1/2 dose of Eliquis (2.5 mgs twice/day)? This is one of the main reasons I had hoped to getby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
So do we have the same 10% risk as anyone else might in terms of a clot coming from a non LAA source? Because if we do, then shouldn't everyone be on a low dose blood thinner? Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
So I don't understand this. Why are people who just get a regular ablation, many w/o even getting a Watchman, told that they can get off of blood thinners? It seems that the LAA ablation might be the reason those of us who've had this, are told to stay ON blood thinners. My cardiologist even said, "that's the whole point of getting the Watchman...to get off Eliquis, etc. Shby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've read that statins can cause diabetes....any truth to that? Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Carey.by tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dr. Natale had told me that I could get off of Eliquis for a few days, or even a week or more if I needed to for some reason. I was considering taking a strong anti-inflammatory med that had caused a weird bruise above my eye, when I was on Eliquis, so he OK'd getting off of it if I wanted to take that med again. I do have the Watchman and no afib for 9 years.by tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
That's unsettling, Carey. Are you saying that it's not uncommon to get Afib back after getting a LAA ablation, a flutter ablation and then a Watchman, all with Dr. Natale? That's my afib experience too....it's been 9 years since the 2nd ablation (flutter), and all has been quiet. Hoping it stays that way forever.....Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had a LAA ablation back in 2013 with Dr. Natale, and did attend one symposium a number of years ago I keep getting emails about upcoming LAA symposiums and it always looks like there must be new information coming out, which makes me wonder.....is this procedure still being "fine tuned"? I am still taking a low dose of Eliquis, and I think it's because they really aren'tby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I haven't heard him say anything about an especially high heart rate, but he has had high BP. I guess I'm just wondering why any more info if needed if they already know he has Afib, and he is on Eliquis.....unless they want to be sure his heart rate doesn't go too high, or too low...?by tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have a friend who was recently diagnosed with paroxysmal Afib. He's one of the lucky ones in that he doesn't feel it....He's 78 years old and in very good shape. He was also recently switched from aspirin to Eliquis, 5 mg/BID. He knows my experience with Afib, so has been checking in with me to let me know what various doctors are telling him. He's hesitant to get an ablatby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks all for your input. I had my MRI yesterday and there were no issues. The radiologist said they do these a lot, and there wasn't anything different needed on his end, anyway. Fingers crossed that the results are good too. Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Is does say that the Watchman is MRI conditional...meaning modifications do need to be made. I'm getting a pelvic MRI, but it still needs to be done. I was thinking it would only have to be modified if it was a chest exam, but apparently it still does need to be done differently.by tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Jake. I have no idea if this is a good facility or not..sure hoping it is! ~ Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Cary - do you know if the scan is as good at detecting any problems if it's modified to meet the criteria for the Watchman? That concerns me, as it's an important test for me. Thanks ~ Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello - one of my doctors wants me to get an MRI and I have a Watchman Implant, so I know I need to bring the card I got after getting it. The person who schedules the MRI's at the facility said they need a few days to check out the info on the device (I believe that's what she said)...anyway, is it typical to have to wait for a clearance before getting an MRI? Thanks everyone. I didn't think it had any noticeable side effects, and like mentioned above, he was only on Eliquis for one day, so anemia wouldn't make sense. As it turned out, he felt better when i saw him today, so I'm suspecting that he was just uncomfortable taking something new/different and had some people scaring him with stories of brain bleeds, horror stories if you faby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I haven't noticed anything different either, and I've been on Eliquis for quite a few years now. thanks for your reply, Ken Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello all and Happy Father's day eve for all the dads on here ~ I have a friend who just started taking Eliquis the other day, and told me he feels "terrible" and wants to get off of it. It had only been one day since he started! Pat noticed Afib on his watch while at the gym, and then went to see his Cardiologist, who gave him a 30 day monitor. He had Afib 79 times, accordby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
