Hi Jackie, I posted in this thread, but should have replied. that I found the source of my problem. Garyby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good news! After suffering with this "issue" for nearly six months, I finally stumbled upon the problem: OXALATES! How did I run across this? I'm a regular listener of low-carb guru Jimmy Moore's podcast. The title of his August 1 episode was "Sally Norton Sounds the Alarm on the Oxalate Toxicity of Eating Plants." I ALMOST skipped listening, since the subject matby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
In the past, I've been able to correct loose stools by stopping all magnesium supplementation (Doctor's) for a week. For the past 3 months or so, it's become somewhat chronic. Not every BM, but most and I hate this. The only dietary change I've made is starting to use liquid Stevia to sweeten my tea (instead of Splenda - but never really had any trouble with that.) I've started trying to isolate foods that are causing my spells of arrhythmia. They always start after eating. Today, after a noon workout in the gym, I drank a whey protein shake (powder from Costco mixed with water). Within 30 minutes, the arrhythmia was in full swing. Fortunately, back to normal rhythm in about an hour. I searched this forum and found the statement below, within a largby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've consumed a lot of Low Sodium V-8 Juice over the years, but recently discovered another good source of dietary potassium: Vita Coco pure coconut water. A single-serving pack (11.1 oz.) contains 620 mg of potassium. I've been buying it by the case at Costco (which has stopped stocking LS V-8) and also see it on the shelf at Kroger, Walmart, and Sprouts. I find it very refreshing aby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for that post Jackie. Sugar is like poison to me. Dessert is followed by hours of bothersome ectopics of all kinds. Alcohol in any form causes similar symptoms. Garyby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Concerning this topic, I've read David Perlmutter's book "Grain Brain". He also makes a very compelling case that many disorders of the brain are because of chronic inflammation due to high carb diets. Lots of mainstream research cited. Grain Brain on Amazon Garyby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ron, Did you ever post what probiotics you are using? If so, sorry, I missed it. Garyby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Louise, Yes, I received an email from someone at AliveCor confirming shipment but it was at least a week after installing the app. You may want to contact AliveCor directly. No one with the eHeart program ever responded to my emails or phone calls (I had trouble also). Go to alivecor.com and pick Customer Support and then Email Support. They were prompt and helpful with me. BTW, prior to fiby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I waited to post this until I received my shipping confirmation. Participants in the UCSF eHeart study are given the opportunity to get an AliveCor heart monitor sent to you at no charge - and with no prescription provided by you (maybe one is provided through the study I'm not sure). The device works on iPhone 4 & 5. It took me 3-4 hours to enroll and fill out all the surveys. Youby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just started (this week) using a tablespoon of powdered ribose in bottled water after exercise. Wow, lots of trips to the restroom! Anyone experience this? Every 30 minutes or so. Ridiculous. Garyby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM

afhound99: It was the Niaspan! My cardiologist had me on 500mg 2xday. I'm going to try an over the counter flush-free formula at 250mg. Probably the Now Foods product through iHerb.by gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, I tried to PM you but apparently it did not work. What is your email id at h4hmindspring.com?by gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nancy, Are you, by chance ALSO taking Niaspan (or Niacin)? That's what was causing my terribly itchy rash. However, I had been on the Niaspan for 4 months before the rash manifested itself, so it didn't make any sense. I was trying to blame it on something I had started more recently, like Potassium! Can anyone recommend a practitioner of this sort in the Dallas/Fort Worth area?by gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Both my regular cardiologist and the EP I have seen once refuse to write a script for this. The cardio guy could see no way to get reimbursed for interpreting any "charts" I send them. The EP cited liability concerns. Anyone have any luck getting one of these? Garyby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm on prescription niacin as well (Niaspan 500 mg 2 x day). But I've been on it over 6 months and this rash thing seemed to coincide with my ramp up on the potassium. The potassium I'm taking is the Now brands gluconate form right off Han's link into the iHerb site. Frankly, I've always been prone to weird reactions to meds. Interestingly, now that I have taken a secby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I thought the little scoop that I've been using came with the Now bulk K powder, but maybe not. It's 6.5 cc which is about a teaspoon and a quarter. One teaspoon of the bulk powder is 540 mg. My "scoop" provides about 700 mg, I guess. So, I was taking 1400 mg in powder and 1180 in the V8 juice plus another 500 mg from the banana in my morning smoothie for a daily total of abouby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well, I guess I reached "titration" for potassium! Very itchy rash that started on my lower back then progressed to chest, legs and arms. I started with the chelated magnesium working up to 600mg/day. Then started with a scoop of potassium in the morning, a low-sodium V8 at lunch, and then added another scoop before dinner. Stopping all potassium has reversed the rash. Anyone ever experby gleeloyd - AFIBBERS FORUM
New here, but enjoying this site and community tremendously! On page 3 of Jackie Burgess' "The Strategy..." paper, in the Caveat/Caution paragraph, he says "If they are using medications that are potassium sparing, then supplementation must proceed under medical supervision."
